fuck! i wish it was a b-side.
still, their strength as a band is the gigs to me and i have my tickets for months now.
lyla is an unispiring dull little song which would have been dropped ten years ago if it had have been around then.
if that was a new band releasing that track it would sell less than a posh spice song!

our expectations have really really gone down since bhn, if that song would have been part of any other cd we would have probably not liked it. compared to any song is one of oasis' worsts. and our expectatios from oasis are so low that we are even satified with this 'pop' song. i admitt i like it, but it's a nice song, not a hit or a single. that's for sure. i am a bit dissapointed.

Its a stomping tune that is something different to the singles from SOTSG and HC. Lyla is crying out to be shouted by 7,000 - 70,000 drunk people! Going back 10 yrs, Lyla is much better than Roll With It.

one thing lyla is not is a rock 'n roll tune.... edgeless shite, as bad as she is love. I was hoping for a morning glory, but I got a idlers dream

Sorry, as much as I like Lyla, it doesn't compare to RWI, not even close.
But still a quality tune, will be a GREAT live song, right up there with She's Electric, Don't Look Back In Anger, will be sung by the masses of drunks, something to be celebrated at every Oasis gig, including the upcoming Boston show, which will be my first!

I was hoping for a morning glory, but I got a idlers dream It aint 95 - Noel cant write songs about how he aspires to be something other than a unemployed chancer. His song-writing style has developed over the 11 yrs since DM. His priorities have changed as have his beliefs etc And wots wrong wiv Idler's Dream? ? I loved the fact it was just a piano - If anything its a lesson to Keane on how to use the fuckin piano to write a good song.

Well hey hey, what can I say? I live in Boston, so I don't get many chances! (We all remember what happened in 2002!) Believe me, I am gonna make the most of it and make sure that the experience doesn't pass me by in short order... as I said before, my wife and I are getting to the parking lot EARLY, will have lots of Guiness on hand as well as ALL of the studio albums, plus a bunch of boots... we have a tan Ford Taurus SES will be BLASTIN the Oasis tunes, mad-fer-it always, come on by and make a request if you want YES INDEED ALL ARE WELCOME I'M ALL FOR IT!!!!

completley agree.... listen to supersonic, then lyla...... no comparison True, they are different. Like Noel would say, he can't write a song that he doesn't feel. He can't write songs as if he was a 20-something coke-head partying his ass off. He is a family man who is in love and that comes through in his songs. If you are looking for shear energy and cutting edge rock, you better check out some newer bands such as Kaiser Chiefs, Kasabian, The Hives, or The Killers. Noel's song writing has progressed with the stages of his life, just like any self-respecting songwriter. If you can't tell, I think Lyla is ace.

one thing lyla is not is a rock 'n roll tune.... edgeless shite, as bad as she is love. I was hoping for a morning glory, but I got a idlers dream what is wrong with "idler's dream" ? that's one of my favorites...if u listen to the lyrics they are fucking amazing. and the piano is just rite. people have to understand that not every song is gonna be a "morining glory" or "supersonic". "cast no shadow" isn't as much of a "rock" song like "morning glory" but it's still fucking awesome if you ask me and most other people. plus "lyla" is their first single and it's always their weakest ones. and it's their best first single released since WTS(MG) in my opinion. i am very optimistic for this album. "lyla" is top notch. - cheers !

"lyla" is good. of coarse it's not their best...did anyone expect this to be their best song ? if you want more matture songs be ready for "let there be love" , "a bell will ring" , "the importance of being idle", and "part of the queue." and other songs may be what you're looking for to. i think "stop the clocks" will be on it....and that will be good too. "lyla" is just a fun song. it's part of what they are.
- cheers !

their first single is always one of their uptempo songs (think about it: supersonic, some might say, d'you know what i mean, go let it out, the hindu times, lyla)
