They arnt as subtle and thus are not as witty as the AMs are with lyrics. But they dont sound hollow! they have a fuckin great sound (Aimless with an Aim - point and case)
But what they lose with inferior lyrics they gain with anthems. Can you really imagine the AMs as a good sing-a-long gig like Oasis? I cant.
But The Twang with the "uh ohs" in the background of Wide Awake, and the good flow of words in Either Way, makes this band a great band to sing along with, like Oasis.
From clips ive seen live, they seem mediocre. But im sure Oasis wernt good live at one time too. I'm sure once these lads get the grasp of gigging and become more use to it, they will be - in their words -- fookin mega.
I really want to see them live. Them and Oasis, and i'll be happy.
Also a great band to drink to. Makes them even more enjoyable. Def have some similarites to Oasis, and if they can work on their lyrics they have a chance to be the next Oasis, imo. Finally i can say that with some conviction, bc nooone else before The Twang stood a chance of creating similar songs/attitude/atmosphere to Oasis.
Cant wait to get the album. When is it released in the US?
yeah, i have almost all their songs already but to have the good production and it on CD where i can blast this thing while driving will be great.

Arctic Monkeys are building sing alongs. When The Sun Goes Down, Alex sings the first verse 1 outta every 15 times he plays it just about, the crowd taking control, even in the states. Mardy Bum too whenever its played. When all of Reading festival is singing your song, you might have a song that people can sing along to.

yeah, i agree, the AMs do have some sing alongs, but for the most part not too many. Like Coldplay -- good lyrics but i cant see their gigs being full of sing alongs bc they like the mega anthems -- but thats bc they arnt that type of band. But for me, a gig is a chance to connect with the artist. And one way is by singing along with passion. When i see and hear clips of thousands of Oasis fans singing Dont Look Back In Anger a long with Noel, its really special -- how a song can unite all people from different races, genders, religions. Music is quite powerful with the emotions it can stur. For me, i'll go see the AMs live if the tickets arnt too expensive, not sold out yet, and i have nothing better to do. Believe it or not, i have yet been to any gig by any band, and its starting to piss me off. But i would do ANYTHING to see Oasis. (Wouldnt we all?). Like, if i dont see them atleast once before they call it a day im going to be very dissapointed. They seem like a fuckin mega band live, from all the clips and dvds i own of them. The Twang, too, surely they will tour the US soon? For me, its the gigs that make or break a band. In todays world, artists use computers to enhance their voices (so technically, anyone can create good music) -- theres another post on this somewhere, so i wont go into detail. Now bands that only use computer to "clean up" voices is fine, but not to make a 100% crap voice (like mine lol) a fantastic voice, bc thats fake. Thus, to me, its about the energy, attitude, and atmosphere the band creates. Oasis has all of that, so i use them as the benchmark. That comes with time and experience though, and im sure The Twang will only get better. We know Noel likes the Arctic Monkeys, but has he said anything about The Twang yet? Love to hear what his opinion is. That tourch seems to be slowly in transition, but hopefully Oasis will keep control of it for a few years still. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Ross, you utter nob. ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png) you have realized just bc there were 3 threads about the same band doesnt mean they discuss the same thing. Why should ppl have to assume that theres a way to listen to the full album in this thread, and why should ppl have to dig to find it? WHY NOT CREATE ONE THAT CLEARLY STATE: LISTEN TO THE FULL ALBUM HERE whatever. so board members, if u want to listen to the full album -- click on the now locked other thread. ta

Anyway, this is how I rate the songs:
Ice Cream Sunday -- 7/10, nothing special Wide Awake -- 9/10, stupid MILF line, other than that MEGA Neighbour -- 7/10, average Push The Ghost -- 9/10, Proper anthem Either Way -- 8/10, good tune Reap What You Sow -- 8/10, good Loosely Dancing -- 8/10, good 2 Lovers -- 7/10, too repetitive. decent. Dont Wait Up -- ??. wont work --> skips this track Get Me Sussed -- 10/10, best on the album! Cloudy Room -- 7/10, was good but completly fucked it up. demo album was a 9/10
OVERALL: 80/100 = 80% Verdict: Very good debut band. Possible album of the year? Atleast thus far. (Dont Wait Up still needs to be included)

I've given the album several long and hard listens and heres what I think about each of the songs:
Ice Cream Sundae - one of the poorer tracks on the album, nothing special Wide Awake - i'll agree with live4evr, stupid MILF line, great song otherwise Neighbour - Not a fan of the Mike Skinner singing crap, maybe worst song on the album Either Way - Possibly the best love song since Slide Away, one of the best on the album Push The Ghosts - big anthemic sound on this track, good song Reap What You Sow - One of my favourites of the album, unbelievable chorus Loosely Dancing - Good fun, feel good song. Love the 'OI' part 2 Lovers - Growing to become the best track of the album, delicious with pop melodies Don't wait up - NME skips this track =\ Got Me Sussed - don't mind this track... a bit too samey to the others. Doesn't bring anything to the album Cloudy Room - one of the poorer songs of the album, another filler
Overall - 7/10
I had mixed feelings towards the twang when I first heard their four songs on their myspace (Wide Awake and either way were amazing, neighbour and cloudy room were shit), but after giving the album a listen, I'm glad they leaned towards the sounds I liked more. Solid album, but nothing too phenomenal just yet

ive gotten used to the new Cloudy Room sound. The original of the song was still better though. They did clean up Push The Ghost nicely though.
Best album so far, imo.
Top 3 albums of 2007 so far, in this order: 1.) The Twang 2.) Arctic Monkeys 3.) Modest Mouse
