if i do remember correctly, i believe that many people on this forum had Hard FI's album as one of the best of 2005....
i liked it at first, but apart from some songs, its all filler
the twang seem to be much better. although the verdict is out until their debut album is released

I just checked out The Twang's myspace and gave their songs a listen... I think they're pretty good, but nothing too phenomenal.
I'm gonna agree with their lyrical quality being pretty shit and I just absolutely cannot stand the mike skinner parts. Why the FUCK did they do that?! The lead singer is a good singer, and he should do just that, sing. Wide Awake and Either Way are amazing tunes because they have very little, or none, of this Mike Skinner crap.
Nonetheless, they are a band to keep an eye on.
The backup singer also needs a real job.

I'm in fuckin love with this band.
It's going to be interesting to see what songs they pick for the album, and if they have songs on the album that we havnt heard yet
I cant believe ALL those songs were leaked somehow. This band will be mega. Atleast I hope, i think.....errr....i know? ;D
Does anyone know when they plan to release an album?

If Either Way, Wide Awake, Cloudy Room and Push the Ghost wasnt enough to convince you, Aimless With An Aim surely takes the cake
TUNE!

you know how much you like the arctic monkeys? thats how i feel about the twang. fuckin mega

Does anyone know when they plan to release an album? taken from the twangs myspace site: ALBUM NEWS - RELEASE DATE & TITLE As readers of this week's NME will have noted, The Twang have christened their forthcoming debut album. Set for release on June 4, the first long player from Birmingham's hottest new exports will be called 'Love It When I Feel Like This'. Phil Etheridge was good enough to shine some light on the title choice; "It's about us having a mad craic in the studio and getting this buzz when you're jamming where you feel like nothing else really matters. I do love it when I feel like that. I always feel like that at gigs and with the songs too. Gigs always give you a buzz when the crowd are going for it and when you've nailed a tune there's no better feeling." Get ready to share the feeling in June... I´ve heard four songs now: Wide awake, Ice cream sundae, Either way and Cloudy room. They sound very good! looking forward their album.

Either Way is one of the worst singles I've heard this year (although I can't see Kaiser Chiefs' Ruby being outshited in 2007)

An interview with Jon from The Twang... SO, FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW, WHO IS IN THE TWANG AND WHAT DOES EACH MEMBER? Phil sings, Saunders does backing vocals, I (Jon) plays bass, Stu plays Guitar and Matt plays Drums.
HOW DID YOU ALL MEET AND COME TO FORM A BAND TOGETHER? Me, Phil and Saunders have known each other from school. Matt's brother went to school with us and we found out that Matt was a drummer. So when we decided to form he was the obvious choice. Stu moved into the house that I was renting and again when we heard him play we snapped him up.
WHERE DID THE NAME "THE TWANG" COME FROM?! We don't even know ourselves.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE OF MUSIC? We have a lot of ingredients in our music. I think all of our songs sound like us but they all sound different at the same time if that makes sense.
WHO ARE YOUR INFLUENCES? We all like different things. But we all love the same bands as well. We like Kings of Leon, The Strokes, The Libertines. We also love the obvious great bands such as The Smiths and The Mondays. Who doesn't. We are currently listening to Jamie T on the tour bus.
YOU'RE ABOUT TO RELEASE YOUR DEBUT SINGLE, "WIDE AWAKE". WHAT IS THE TRACK ABOUT? It's about what ever you want it to be about. Listen to the lyrics and make up your mind.
WHEN CAN FANS EXPECT AN ALBUM? June.
ANY INTRESTING TALES FROM THE STUDIO YOU'D LIKE TO SHARE WITH US? We had a Taxi driver who used to nearly crash probably three time a day. So we were lucky to finish the album at all
THERE SEEMS TO BE A LOT OF HYPE SURROUNDING THE BAND. IS IT JUSTIFIED? We'll see. It's hard to say when we haven't even had a single out. We think we have good songs and we're gonna let people decide when the album comes out.
DO YOU THINK YOU'RE REALLY "BRITAIN'S BEST NEW BAND"?! I don't really give a shit about being branded the best new band in Britain because it's a bollocks statement. Because one person could say we are the best new band but the next lad could think we're absoloute dogshit.
YOU'RE CURRENTLY ON TOUR. HOWS IT GOING? It's going great. We are halfway through our first ever tour and we're having a right laugh. The gigs are going really well and the crowds are really responding well. I'm sure our management are gonna run us ragged for the next two years though. Aren't ya?!
WHAT CAN PEOPLE WHO ARE YET TO SEE THE TWANG EXPECT FROM ONE OF YOUR SHOWS? A good time. Our aim was to bring people together and enjoy themselves. To meet a girl or just get pissed up with their mates. There were two fights at a gig the other night and that ain't what we're about. We don't want people to be scared to come to our gigs, we want them to look forward to coming.
ARE THERE SOME PLACES YOU LOOK FORWARD TO PLAYING MORE THAN OTHERS? Yes I'm looking forward to playing Amsterdam for obvious reasons. I look forward to playing in Japan for obvious reasons. But I enjoy the small towns as well because it's an eye opener. You're seeing little towns that you would never see in your life. I kind of feel sorry for the kids there because theres nothing for them to do, so when they're all dancing with big grins on their faces it's ace!
DO YOU EVER GET NERVOUS BEFORE GOING ON STAGE? Not really. I got a little nervous about two weeks ago. But that was just because of how rough I felt. We'd been out on free bar night. We didn't get in until about five a clock in the morning and then had to do a five hour drive. I was also still in the same clothes as the day before.
HOW DO YOU STRUCTURE YOUR SET? Because no one has heard much of our stuff we try and spread out the tunes that people have heard so that they're not listening to loads of tunes that they've never heard.
WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU DO AFTER A GIG? Get a beer and a cigarette.
I HEAR YOU'RE SUPPORTING JAMES ON TOUR IN APRIL? Yes, we found out a couple of months ago. We all love James and we can't wait to support them. It's like a dream for us. Our mates can't believe it. They're a legendary British band.
WILL YOU BE PLAYING ANY OF THE BIG SUMMER FESTIVALS? We are hoping to play as many as we can. Glastonbury would be great!
WHAT WAS THE FIRST GIG YOU WENT TO AS A PUNTER? I can't remember my first one but probably the best one I went to was when me and few of the lads travelled up to Leeds to see the Happy Mondays about ten years ago when they reformed. They had a lad jump up onto the stage and just as the security went to drag him off Shaun Ryder stepped in and stopped them. They then went straight into Kinky Afro and the place errupted. Fuckin ace!
WHICH DO YOU ENJOY DOING THE MOST… WRITING SONGS, RECORDING THEM OR PLAYING THEM LIVE? I like doing them all. We find writing the songs quite easy once we get going. I find studios a bit chlaustraphobic sometimes, but you can't complain. I love playing live because it's an excuse to have a drink and a laugh.
IF YOU COULD PICK ONE ARTIST TO WRITE OR PERFORM WITH, WHO WOULD IT BE? Richard Ashcroft is one of the best writers to come out of Britain and a great singer. Ian Brown would be good. Jamie T would be interesting. Pete Docherty or Mike Skinner maybe.
HOW IMPORTANT ARE WEB OR FANZINES SUCH AS SCREAMING TARTS TO BANDS LIKE THE TWANG? It's all important to us cause if people care about it then it's important. I'm sorry that this has taken so long to get back you. I've still spent a couple of hours over this so I hope you don't mind.
Mr Martyn.

the *only* thing that pisses me off about them is that they are, at times, too Mike Skinnerish and that, imo, will prevent them from being huge like Oasis, U2, Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys (who have produced a stunning second album, i still dont care too much for their debut though). but we'll see....they def have potential, and i do love their tunes.

They don't sound that bad. Either Way is pretty good. Nothing to get alll worked up about. Then again, I haven't really given them that much of a listen.

ive seen the Levis live clips on youtube (ie good camera and filming) and they seem shit live. i hope they get better as they get used to gigs and their confidence increases
(Im sure Oasis were shit during their first few gigs too)
i like them, they have a great sound. great songs to drink to and be with mate. and some songs have decent lyrics. but they are well below the likes of Oasis, U2, Coldplays, Arctic Monkeys in respect to being artistic in their lyrics. But what the fuck, that might come with their second album when theyve matured? who knows?
but they def have potential, and i am loving what i hear. cant wait for the album!
Aimless with an Aim either way wide awake push the ghost ice cream sundae cloudy room loosely dancing
are all fookin ace

There lyrics are more humourous and there is a lot of northern/english slang thrown in.
I cant see them scaling the heights of oasis and the rest but i really like them and the first album should be good.
Am not into this new rave shit (The Klaxons are wank) and i certainly dont get bands like Bloc Party etc etc as they are all moody (Boring) vaginas.
Good old cock sure attitude never hurt anyone roll on the twangy boys.

I cannot believe the twang made aimless with an aim a b-side. That song is much much MUCH better than some of the songs on the album, e.g. The Neighbour and cloudy room...
Masterplan-esque behaviour if you ask me =\
And where the hell is tea-stained page?!!? From the demos, wide awake, tea stained page and aimless with an aim would be my favourite tracks, and 2 of 3 of those songs aren't on the album!
those other songs better deliver!!!
