Gay or not but they make very beautiful music. One of the best bands on the world. Parachutes and Rush of blood to the head are classics, but X&Y is overrated (even though there is still some great moments like Fix you and Talk) and DBTT is so MUCH better. Year of Oasis? Definitely

Jesus Christ, I will never understand everyone's raging hard-on for Coldplay. X & Y is horrible; Chris Martin was so ashamed of it that he publicly apologized for the lyrics and promised they'd get back into the studio as quickly as possible. There are people on this forum who could start a better band than coldplay if they had tens of thousands of dollars in recording and production equipment like Martin and his mongoloid pals.
Oh, and of course there are other, better bands than Oasis. Popular music today is so completely corporatized that they're few and far between but they're there. I think DBTT wouldve sold better if Liam could actually sing the songs that were released as singles. So far he's butchered Lyla at every show but the Manchester Gig and they don't even try LTBL because he'd make such an idiot of himself. Instead they mime it like Ashlee Simpson on TV programs, which is embarassing. At least they still put on good shows, and don't put their audiences to sleep like Coldplay though, and the new album didn't sound like it was penned in a day like X & Y.
Back to Coldplay, X & Y was the equivalent of giving a starving man dry scraps of bread in the middle of winter. If it had come out around the time of Morning Glory or Ok Computer or Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness everybody would've laughed at it for it's nursery rhyme lyrics and pointless shit melodies. But in a time when the biggest band in America is Linkin fucking Park they're the messiahs of Rock and Roll, and it's disgusting.

X&Y was a weak effort. Parachutes was a great album (just ask Noel), everything since has been underwhelming.

Sooo I was looking at my bookmarked threads and wall-ah this popped out and back to life. My favorite thread resurrected. After a good read of it again - I admit, it's got some classic posts.
Coldplay is gay.

would be interesting to hear people's opinions on X&Y now after 2 years... personally thought it was vastly over-rated when it was released and i remember laughing heartily at people in this thread comparing it to the likes of Morning Glory i dont think most of the people who posted originially are still here to follow up, but if anyone is and still thinks X&Y is a classic then please post Fix You is the only song i love off it

I think AROBTTH is still their best album ...but I'm still a big fan of X&Y, til kingdom come and swallowed in the sea are probably my favorites. this may be slightly skewed by me meeting Chris Martin in between the beginning of this thread and now.

I like square one but i'm not a big fan of the album I still think AROBTTH was much better exactly what I would say. AROBTTH was amazing, I think Chris Martin is too busy worrying about poor farmers in Africa now to make another album as good or better.

every decade throws up a nice safe band that you get for a present at birthdays and christmas if they know you are in to music.
now, if this means that being hammered up the ass by a huge penis by some bloke dressed as a construction worker on birthdays and christmas then i have to say NO chris martin!
take your gay rock elsewhere!
thank god i got nirvana unplugged for x-mas.

The reason alot of people dislike Coldplay is because they are slightly posh southerner. Personally I'm just not at all interested in them and therefore I just can't relate to their music.

Wow. You dug up an oldie, didn't you? Cheers! Coldplay = over-rated by mainstream media types, and probably under-rated by actual music listeners.
