I've seen so many gigs in my time (including over 30+ oasis/LG/NG gigs) and Knebworth is right up there, top three of all time.
The spirit of the day is what made it so special, walking through the town and seeing all the parka monkeys everywhere getting in the mood. The bar unbelievably ran out of booze but that didn't dampen the spirit.
LG was absolutely terrific, the last ever rock and roll star delivered a GOAT performance and was funny and charming throughout.
I genuinely feel so gutted it's all over and would love to relive it again.
It will take something special to top this, and I can't wait to see what Liam has planned next!

A few negative Nelly's on here but me and my group of friends are absolutely buzzing for the gig. Feels like a proper moment helped by the bank holiday lead up. Can't wait! Look I'm buzzing for it, I'm going down to London today and I'm sure it's going to be great. I think fans should come first with stuff like this is all, and they never do. That's annoying. But it'll be a great day! I am football fan so I am used to fans being a second thought (TV companies moving away games to Monday nights when there is no viable travel options). Tbh though I reckon it will all be okay. Not perfect, but it will all work out in the end.

It's funny how fame works when you think about it - I mean, why is it that some people are huge and then end up fading into 'irrelevancy' (by that I mean not really being cared about other than their core fanbase) and yet others who were also huge in the past manage to cross generations and maintain that legacy if not grow it. Obviously there are a lot of factors that go into it but it's funny to think about especially with Liam and Richard in the sense that they were both huge at more or less the same time but 20+ years later their fates are polar opposites Liam has been part of a lot more good music than Ashcroft since 2000. Even with the spotty second half of Oasis' career, there's a gulf. Plus, Oasis were much bigger than The Verve to start with. And I suppose, being more mythic about it, Liam's status as the carefree, confident rock-star is a more enduring archetype than Ashcroft's sort of messianic, tortured thing that's been seen as something of a dated figure in music for a while now. But even with all that, Liam wasn't far from fading away between 2014-2016. He was the full overweight, divorced, former-rock-star cliche at that time. What he's managed in the last five years is incredible. I don't think Richard could repeat it. I also think the Supersonic documentary really helped promote Liam to the young generation and gave his fanbase a new lease of life.

Liam is being surprisingly humble about his performance and very honest (as ever).
I think he sums it up well, it was alright but could have been a lot better and so feels a little like a missed opportunity. It must be difficult with all the over circus going on and nervous and nonsense to deliver a 10/10.
However you have got to take risks some times to give yourself the opportunity to take, and Liam, to his credit has proven he is willing to take risks.
Didn't pull it off to the maximum this time, but maybe next time he will.

The boring debates about Liam's voice rage on.
I'm gonna logout out of here and log into the Little Simz forum, which incidentally I registered for tonight.

Haha the hat appearance made it clear (I mean of course everyone knew) that the intro video was pre recorded.

I am obviously way past the target demographic for this show but it all seems so boring and scripted.

Rolo Yeah i dont know about this one, i mean a winter scarf + winter coat with studio lighting, that is very hot. It affected the performance to me. he's sweating like a fuckin pig. The Abbey Road one is much better if i remember correctly. It is. In fact, I'm not sure there's another show like it -- Liam acoustic (true sit-down acoustic, no orchestra, no back-up or other showy bits) for a full show. Is there? Beady Eye did the same style gig at Rough Trade. It was a similar time period as well, promoting BE.

Aside from the complications of song ownership (Andy, Gem and Chris etc) this is the type of thing that only the hardcore would want (I include myself in this) so the question remains - what would be the point?
Remastering, rethinks or reworkings (not sure what this would be classed as) of old albums only happens when they are considered absolute classics.

To even be in the conversations about the top of the charts at this stage in his career (considering it's all streaming based as well) is a fantastic result.
Fair play Liam for never giving up on yourself.

If even the one line, 'Sitting by the fire' but been changed to something a bit more evocative the song would have been ×10 better.
Unbelievably different levels of lyrical quality between this and Gas Panic which were written in the same time period.

Just to add to my previous comments about Liam's sound evolving, it is literally how he got his solo record deal. The unique voice mixed with his willingness to colab and produce a fresh sound different from his Beady Eye and Oasis past. Snippet of interview below from his management company UROK. Link: www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/uroks-roy-and-sam-eldridge-on-liam-gallagher-plan-b-jess-glynne-and-each-other/YOU GOT THE RECORDINGS GOING? Sam: We did two tracks with Greg Kurstin and two tracks with Dan Grech, and that was really important: it showed Liam wasn’t going to make an old-fashioned record with old-fashioned producers. Greg was the biggest pop producer in the world at that point in time. NOT EVERYONE THOUGHT TAKING ON A POST-BEADY EYE LIAM GALLAGHER WAS GOING TO BE A CLEVER MOVE. Sam: Maybe those people missed the fact that Liam’s an incredibly modern artist. He’s great on social media, he’s got a huge personality, and he’s one of the greatest rock stars of all time. If you discount that somehow, sorry, but you’re an idiot. Also, he wanted to collaborate, and of course he has that voice.

The comment about the editing of vocals might have been a troll but it's been an issue for me since Noel stopped the quality control. I don't think anyone has the balls in the studio to get him to stand there and do enough takes. Ever since DGSS there's been this manufactured squeek on his high notes. I don't have any issue with new sounds or a change in direction. It's just when it doesn't feel like it has anything to do with Liam and he's looked at it and sang it a few times that I have an issue. This feels like one of them. Hope it grows. Cant see it going down well at the Brits. Hard to sing and not very radio friendly IMO I say bring back the BE days. I genuinely enjoyed the pureness of his voice on that record. You mentioned bring back the Beady Eye days, but what you forget is that no-one other than the hardcore fans listened to BE. It sank without trace, regardless of the quality of the songwriting, mainly because it had a 60s vibe that wasn't current. His solo output is such much more fresher and current, which regardless of what the purists want, is what is popular. Liam has always been a superstar destined and designed for the biggest stages in the world. He understands that the old Oasis sound or Beady Eye throwback vibe doesn't work.

I did enjoy Get Back, but it did drag on to be honest. If I heard Don't Let Me Down one more time I'd cry. Oh and Paul definitely was the odd one out imo. When he left the studio a few times the others seem to loosen up and enjoy themselves The highlight for me was hearing "Jealous Guy", it was called something else then though and had different words I agree with this, Paul seemed to be the taskmaster. Also I noticed a few times how when speaking to George he would focus on John, rather than George. Can understand why George felt so pissed off as it seems he was never truly valued as a songwriter by the others. That early version of Jealous Guy was called Child of Nature, although I think John also changed the words and called it On the Road to Marrakesh at one point.
