Up to When I Need a Friend. This is different, totally different. Broken is a full on Gospel Song, just Martin and a Gospel Choir with Piano. When I Need a Friend is a hymn?! A church choir with Martin only almost a lullaby hymn type of thing. Daddy reminds me of "Gravity" that Martin gave to Embrace but it has a Massive Attack Teardrop heart beat going through it. Heartfelt piano tune.TBH I don't know where to begin with this. Is it....good? I thihk so but there's a lot going, difficult to take in on one listen. I remember the utter devastation listening to their last album for the first time, this is the exact opposite. Arabesque is probably one of the more conventional songs?!

Here we go. 1st track.... WTF?! Its a pure orchestral instrumental. Sounds like something from a film score. 2nd track Church, can hear the Stargate production but it's not overdone I don't think, quite subtle, also an Arabic sounding female vox through it. Its good, really good.

Is it gonna be the horn section? If so that is not Meltdowns worthy. Noel’s done tons and tons of horns in his solo career. TDOYAM springs to mind instantly. Surely it’s the Christmas Bells. The recording quality is pretty bad but you can hear them. X Think it's the lyrics. They sound like they're aimed at Liam but they're for Sara.

Perhaps they think WS is traditional Noel enough to sell tickets for his gig next year.

Hang on, anyone hear a lot of Don't Let The Devil Take Another Day by the Stereophonics in it?

Reminds of Little By Little a bit. Nice tune, really like it on first listen. As much as he tries new things etc, it's the traditional Noel that ways gets me.

I think it could have easily have been another saccharine Amazing-Day-style ballad, but the more mysterious arrangement saves it. Not great, but nice. Like I said, I think it'll sound better as the end of a journey, rather than as a pre-album teaser. I know I'll get kickback for this, but Chris and co. sound like they were going for AFTP R.E.M vibes, "everyone hurts, everyone cries" is even a reference to Everybody Hurts. I don't hear anything superficial or saccharine about this one, seems heartfelt. They can write songs like this easily. Don't think it's Saccharine but whether or not it's worthy of full on promotion, I'm not sure. Call me insane but I can hear Travis in Arabesque 😮😮

It’s okay. Pleasant but definitely inferior to the other two. Really generic lyrics I think but the strings are nice and there the odd nice little guitar effects going on. I think it could have easily have been another saccharine Amazing-Day-style ballad, but the more mysterious arrangement saves it. Not great, but nice. Like I said, I think it'll sound better as the end of a journey, rather than as a pre-album teaser. It's a strange choice as a teaser IMHO. I can see the appeal with Arabesque and Orphans but not EL. The fact they're promoting it, playing it live seems strange to me.

Orphans is such a tune, that live version highlights it. So happy, uplifting and catchy, it's damn great. Not sure about Everyday life yet, need to hear it more.

I have to say Orphans is really growing me on me. The official video thing with Chris just on acoustic is fantastic. Pretty great.

But it’s not a jump in genres. Noel would kill to have written some of Coldplay’s songs, Liam’s poppier elements are in debt to the same genre and style, it’s all wrapped up in the alternative rock mode where the melody and tune is front and centre of the music. Oasis are as pop as the best of them, the songs are merely dressed in rock style. Noel said several years back that “Yellow” is the one song he wishes he wrote. Said it should have been his! Noel with all his recent "French" shit would kill to write a song like Arabesque. Really.

So the Brexit deal? Slashing of workers rights, deregulating environmental policies and taking away consumer rights. And to think some still think leaving the EU is a good idea... Not to mention a 6%GPD drop. Considering the 2008 recession was around 2%, we're fucked.

FWIW i really liked "All I Can Think About is You". Hopefully the new stuff will be decent but it'll struggle to beat AROBTTH and Parachutes for me, I even prefer them to VLV.

I heard Chris Martin on the radio the other day, not sure what song it was but it was truly awful. Has he done some sort of collaboration recently?
