has this come after thom yorkes comments about the hutton report. Im not really sure if they should say it or not. I suppose if you believe in something then you should come out and say it. Thom yorke seems to have a negative oppinion about everything thats going though. Sometimes you just get the impression he just disagree's with everything thats happening in politics just to have a negative oppinion. He's a very cynical man.

Everyone has a right to their opinion, but when i saw Travis a few months back, I was annoyed that between almost every song was some sort of political comment. I didn't pay money to see them preach, I paid to see them sing..

Everyone is free to express their opinion of anything, I don't particulary follow their politics statements but.
Btw, about Travis. Isn't their whole album a little bit politicized? I own it, haven't listened to it yet though coz they're well boring, and I really disliked their MTV show with those naked guys and some sort of posters. Stupid somehow, not entertaining.
They shouldn't forget to stay fun when they talk about politics, imho. A bit of ironic or whatever political tracks or something, who cares about dull whining of the likes of Thom Yorke.

I like to know what stance the musicians i listen to take on political agendas...Will it influence the way i vote? It woill not. I like that some musicians have the balls to be able to voice their opinions like that. I commend Coldplay, U2, and even the Dixie Chicks for not shying away from the things that ails this world. People however shouldnt be so gullible as to vote the way their rockstars vote without taking in as much info as possible...I just think it's great that musicians voice their opinions because in a way they're getting their fans indirectly more involved with the world's goings-ons...

people like bono are real heros in terms of music and politics. people like liam gallagher havent really a clue what they are talking about. and as for stephenn's comments about poltics being shit etc.. thats just a ridiculous thing to say, everything we do is bascially all linked to politics. dont be stupid and say things like that cos you heard liam g say somthing similair.

Unfortunately a lot of people share similar opinions about politics to Liam Gallagher. But they make the mistake of thinking that politics = politicians. It doesnt, politics effects everyone and involves everyone. We all hate the fat, lying bastards in government. But that shouldnt take attention away from the real issues of politics, and from the many good politicians around As for rock and politics. I have nothing against people who write political songs, or pursue political interests outside of their professional life. But i dont think they should use their celebrity status to force their opinions on people. I agree with shadow - you pay them to sing, not preach. I'm not so keen on Bono. to me, third world debt is a symptom of the disease. We should be curing the disease, not just addressing the symptoms. Which is why i think people should be focussing more on the underlying issues, like international trade. the maketradefair campaign seems like a really valuable and beneficial one. Chris Martin's support of it is welcome, but i'd prefer him to keep it out of his music - i agree with him, but as far as i'm concerned he can stick his body-art slogans up his ass Free trade is the way forward. The agricultural policies of most western nations are pretty shocking. But this is when politicians become important - You try telling a million american workers that they will lose their jobs when food subsidies are removed, and see how long you last.... (taking a break from writing my dissertation on free trade to write this btw...perhaps i should focus more on my essay... ;D )

what is? You must have misunderstood me slightly. I said the campaign for fair trade is beneficial, however free trade is the way forward, and should be the number one goal. Free trade benefits the entire world, fair trade is selective to a point. I don't believe in being selective over which people are helped. Any kind of trade protection policies lead to selective discrimination. That doesnt appeal to me- i don't believe in giving people less than they deserve, or more than they deserve. I'm a capitalist after all.... Besides, free trade leads to fair trade. Part of your campaign involves the liberalisation of western trade right? By definition, you can't have fair trade without free trade.

musicians should stick to what they are good at and politicians should do their shit. Fair enough if rock stars wanna do their shit for charity but they're not politicians and their opinions aren't gonna matter worth a fuck in the end, its the same with everyone else. Politics is the most corrupt set of people who should be left alone to deal with whatever bullshit story comes up. Noel Gallagher's right by saying that they're all drug addicts, they fucking are!
