I have no idea where this came from...I just watched the vid for Bohemian Rhapsody on tv today and thought....hmmm The Darkness would be the only people who might just get away with covering it without people laughing and booing (too much), but would you want to see it done? I'm gonna be very helpful and sit on the fence

I liked most of Queen hits when I was about 9. I might still appreciate one or two during big parties at 2 or 3 in the morning but the rest, no. And I am surely in the minority and this will be taken as blasphemy but I can't stand Bohemian Rhapsody. And more than the songs, I really dislike May's guitar sound. It's crippling for me.

A thousand times this. So corny and dated, proper dad-going-through-a-midlife-crisis gear. What a waste of talent. Same with Freddie. Great voice, but he should've cut all that skatting shite right out.

I only really know Queen through the shit tonne of hits they produced. Can't think of one I don't enjoy. Easily one of the most universally liked bands I can think of. That said I've never got into anything else they've done. The Darkness get a bit of a rough time as a 'joke band' but their debut was legitimately impressive, they've produced one of the few 'contemporary' christmas records worth keeping and that Cult ripoff they did a few years ago was more than good.

fun fact: queen is the only band in history where every member has contributed a number one hit. that was a talented bunch with the most iconic voice in rock music

I personally think Freddie Mercury was the greatest pop/rock singer ever. Just an amazing voice, and Queen are far from my favourite band, although I do think they were great. I might be a bit biased though, as my parents would play a lot of Queen.
George Michael is another singer whose material I don't particularly dig, but who has one of the best voices ever IMO.

Not the biggest Queen fan, but Freddie Mercury had one of my favorite voices ever

Really, guys? Bohemian Rhapsody is better than anything anyone on this forum has ever done or will ever do.

Queen might be overrated but it's foolish to dismiss everything they've done.

I can say I'm not a fan of stadium rock music circa late 70s/ entire 80s. While U2 gets classified as that, yet their material was very unorthodox compared to Queen. Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois pushed their sound into a terrority of ambient dynamics fused with their earlier post punk style that made them a unique act.

No contest, Queen is far superior than The Darkness, not a big Queen fan but I can appreciate their fantastic music with plenty of hits.

I'm no fan of Queen at all, but to deny their talent is insane. Never connected with their bombastic songs at all, despite the incredible musicianship that they executed on record. But it's hard to watch a video of Freddie Mercury and not be mesmerised at just what a performer he was.
He could work a crowd like nobody else - a stadium of 100,000 people were in the palm of his hands each and every time. Everybody else pales in comparison to that man's showmanship.

Don't like either of them but to compare Queen to The Darkness is laughable.

Just yesterday I had 'You're My Best Friend' playing on Spotify playlist and I didn't remember who was the artist at first.
Anyway, I thought it was a fucking great pop song.
