a very tough decision.. when considering their finest tunes, i'd go for noel coz they're bit more... y'know contemporary. i like the heavy vibe. but macca's also left some ass-kicking milestones.. can't buy me love, let it be, yesterday, hey jude, get back etc etc. ask me 2moro and i might decide differently

i always thought Lennon wrote Hey Jude, but i just checked and it was McCartney. learn something everyday
as for the question, i really don't know. I am a much bigger oasis fan than the beatles, but no one deny the quality and importance of the beatles, and McCartney in particular. the melodies of Paperback Writer and Yesterday are just perfect, yet i've never been hugely impressed by beatles lyrics (Lennon songs excluded)

my gut would probably say paul cause he was part of the Beatles. But he also had Lennon next to him so i don't know. Only a few of his songs from Wings are memorable.
Macca's early songs sound similar to one another, but noel's songs vary quite a bit.
i'll go with noel

I like paul McCartneys solo stuff better than the Beatles , Jet , Live And Let Die , especially Band On The Run - although obviously the Beatles were class.
I think its easy to underestimate how good some of Noels songs are . If you listen to most Paul mcCartney songs , there arent many that you think wow , that puts Oasis in the shade. Of course because he did them first theyve had more influence but I cant believe that in 20 years people wont look back at Acquiese , Live Forever etc and think theyre not as good and as important

well i voted for Noel, eventually. based on lyrics and the fact that i think Wings are one of the worst bands ever!
i just hate them. Mull of Kintyre - only one word can describe that song - dirge
its surprises me that you like Wings better than the Beatles, wormbrain. each to their own of course, but the beatles had a far greater impact on music than Wings or McCartney's other solo stuff.

Yeah , the Beatles had infinitley more influence and will be remembered much more . Recently though , someone in my family died and left a whole heap of old Vinyl records and my cousin came to ours and we just went through them (Theres some seriously weird stuff -Bad Company(?) Bette Midller(!)) and I really got into Wings and McCartney albums .
Let Me Roll It and I Feel Like Letting Go are quality tunes , while the John Lennon stuff is annoying in the main. The Beatles were probably better but I rate Paul McCartney on his own

Noel, besides the Beatles are not that great, McCartney could never write a song like Supersonic.

LOL! ;D sorry people im picking MACCA FAB!

Noel, besides the Beatles are not that great, McCartney could never write a song like Supersonic. disagree with that. i think supersonic is the one oasis song that seems to have a bigger beatles influence then any of his other songs

i think the fab four only lasted for nine years and in that time they went through many phases.
they changed the face of modern music and made michael jackson even richer.
post beatles both macca and lennon have done some extremely dodgy stuff!
its the songs that they wrote when they were in the fab four that we remember them for.
they were the best group of the last century without a doubt.
i cant vote on this poll as i detest macca these days and noel is from a different era.
i dont think noel would have been groundbraking had he been around in the 60's
the beatles were the groundbreakers in those days, well after brian wilson and petsounds!

to let everyone know. mccartney and lennon didnt write the songs together. it was just in the contract that it said mccartney/lennon. macca wrote almost all the songs.

Gallagher definitely. His songs relate to everyday life, I suppose Maccas did for people in his generation, but being younger I cant relate to Maccas stuff as much as I can relate to Noel/Liams stuff.
