Arsenal forward Jose Antonio Reyes says he is keen to move back to Spain as he has not settled in London. The 22-year-old, a £10.5m signing from Sevilla in January 2004, has again been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
And Reyes was quoted in the News of the World as saying: "I have always said I want a return to Spain. I have not adapted to life in England.
"If Real Madrid want me that is marvellous. It would be an honour to play for them. Let's see what happens."
Reyes has made 110 appearances for the Gunners and scored 23 goals.
He has been linked with a move back to his homeland with Real before but signed a new six-year contract at Arsenal in July 2005.
"I have nothing against Arsenal, completely the opposite. It is a great club and they have helped me so much," Reyes added. "The fans have given me so much support since I joined.
"But they know that I have not got used to the language or the weather."
Reyes first admitted he was keen to join Real Madrid at the start of 2005, when he fell victim to a radio hoax.
He told a Spanish radio presenter - who Reyes thought was Real's sporting director Emilio Butragueno - that he was keen on a move to the Bernabeu.

Rafa has magic power in using Spanish players...They did too bad abroad... Yes, but he's Liverpool manager. And has nothing to do with Reyes! ---------------- I don't see Reyes leaving (yet), and I think his quotes have been taken out of context, or old quotes have been used. He signed a new contract till 2009 last year, after the whole Real Madrid thing. Same old stories from last year.... (I hope )

Reyes - I am not looking for a move to Real Madrid
By Richard Clarke in Austria
Jose Antonio Reyes has scotched reports that he would like to leave Arsenal for Real Madrid.
The Spanish international was quoted in this morning's press as saying he was open-minded about a move to the Bernabeu. But, speaking to Arsenal.com from the Club's training base in Austria, Reyes said: "I don't know where these words have come from.
"But what I would like to say is that I am very happy at Arsenal. At the moment we are all training hard in preparation for the new season and I am excited about not only playing at Emirates Stadium but also helping Arsenal to challenge for honours."

Reyes has great potential -- we have all seen what he can do: First game vs. Chelsea, Boro 5-3 Win etc
But he just hasnt settled in England. When it starts getting cold, he turns off. Yeh ppl go on about his assists, and thats all good -- but its fuckin frustrating when you see him on the ball, most of the time he gives a poor pass or runs into defenders.
I admire his work ethic though. He never gives up. He can still make it at Arsenal. I'm giving him 1 more season. If he fails to live up to his standards week-in week-out, i think it will be time for him to move on.
For the present: a Baptista - Reyes swap wouldnt be too bad. We need a player like Bap (Gilberto suuuuucks). so i dont know.
Come on Reyes
JOSE ANTONIO JOSE ANTONIO JOSE ANTONIO JOSE ANTONIO....

Reyes still wants move to Madrid
Jose Antonio Reyes is confident of securing a move to Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain. And the winger, 22, told Spanish daily Marca he hopes the move goes through before Arsenal's Champions League qualifying tie against Dinamo Zagreb.
If the move stalls, Reyes added he would prefer not to figure for the Gunners against the Croatian champions.
"Obviously, if I do (play), it will make a move to Real more difficult. But if I have to, I will play," Reyes said.
"The manager (Arsene Wenger) hasn't said anything to me and I don't know if I am going to play or not.
"I hope I don't or that everything will be resolved before then."
Uncertainty has surrounded the Spaniard's future in north London since he admitted hankering after a move to his homeland and Real Madrid earlier in the summer.
Reyes told Arsenal's website he was "very happy" at the club, but conflicting comments came out in Spain at the same time.
He told Spanish paper As he was "not looking for another club", but added: "I have always said that Madrid is one of my biggest targets. Everyone knows it.
"Clubs are looking for me but the only way that any team, including Madrid, can sign me is by speaking to Arsenal."
Reyes' Arsenal career has been under scrutiny since he fell victim to a hoax early in 2005.
He told a Spanish radio presenter - who Reyes thought was Real's sporting director Emilio Butragueno - that he was keen on a move to the Bernabeu.

Reyes again denies interest in Real Madrid
By Richard Clarke
Jose Antonio Reyes has once again denied that he is looking to move to Real Madrid.
Over the weekend, the Arsenal striker had to refute reports that he was after a transfer to the Bernabeu club. The story resurfaced in the media this morning.
“I did not say these words,” said Reyes in response. “I’ll tell you once again, I am happy at Arsenal and I am looking forward to the coming campaign. We have a new stadium this season and we are pushing for honours in all competitions. I do not want to leave Arsenal."

this makes me remember Ronaldo after the 02 WC, he said he didn't want to leave Inter but the press said he ahd already fixed for Madrid, we all know what happened a few days later...... that seems the way Madrid operates most of the time, they tried to do the same with Kaka

OK, we'd lose loads of money, but I think it'd be well worth it! First season was always going to be tough for Hleb, Arsene obviously knows his potential and fair play
