Real Madrid have announced the signing of Italy World Cup-winning captain Fabio Cannavaro and Brazil midfielder Emerson from Juventus. The pair, who have signed a two-year deal with a further one-year option, will link up with their former Juve boss Fabio Capello at the Bernebeu.
Spanish radio said the deal was worth a combined 20 million Euros (£13.7m)
Juventus were relegated from Serie A last week after the match-fixing scandal which rocked Italian football.
They will start the 2006/07 campaign in Serie B with a 30-point deficit.
Real are looking to rebuild after three years without a trophy and the pair are the first arrivals at Madrid since new president Ramon Calderon came to power earlier this month.
A statement on the club's website said: "Real Madrid can confirm it has reached an agreement with Juventus over the signing of Fabio Cannavaro and Emerson.
"The players are currently on holiday and will be presented at the Bernabeu after signing their respective contracts."

why do you call it Real? in Spain it's always called "Madrid" or "Real Madrid" english newspapers call it like that? I've read Buffon will play on Serie B. Great thing for tiffossi, but a bad idea for him

Also in Italy Real Madrid is shorten Real...
Cannavaro is a great sign, I haven't the same opinion about Emerson.
And btw I've read today that AC Milan is still trying to sign Buffon, the negotiation between Juve and Milan is still under way, it will depend on how the match fixing trial will end.
And I also have read that Barca is very close to sign Thuram and Zambrotta. Can anyone confirm this?

Juventus confident of keeping duo
Juventus insist Alessandro del Piero and Pavel Nedved plan to stay, despite their relegation to Serie B. The Turin club will start next season with a 30-point deduction as punishment for the match-fixing scandal that has rocked Italian football.
But Juve sporting director Alessio Secco said: "Del Piero has told me he and Nedved will definitely remain."
And Gianluigi Buffon's agent Silvano Martina says the Italy goalkeeper is also staying at the Stadio Delli Alpi.
Martina said: "Gigi is ready to play in Serie B. There was a bid from Roma to take him on loan but Juve did not consider it.
"The club said what any club would have, Buffon is an international and they could sell him for a vast fee, there's no reason to loan him."
Del Piero had already indicated his intention to stay with Juve but Nedved has been linked with a move to Tottenham. Secco has warned Real Madrid they will have to increase their £20.5m offer if they wish to sign Juventus trio Fabio Cannavaro, Emerson and Gianluca Zambrotta.
Europe's top clubs have been eyeing fire-sale bargains at Juventus and the other two clubs wrapped up in the scandal, Lazio and Fiorentina, who were also relegated.
Secco added: "We will meet with them again in the next few days to continue to negotiate.
"We are willing to sell players as long as we receive adequate offers."
Juve are hoping to see their punishment reduced and have appealed against last Friday's verdict to the Federal Court.
