Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has verbally agreed to join Real Madrid on a three-year deal, according to a Dutch press report.
The country's biggest newspaper De Telegraaf said: "Ruud van Nistelrooy, 30, has come to a verbal agreement with Real Madrid.
"The Netherlands international could sign a three-year contract in the Spanish captial.
"Van Nistelrooy is depending on negotiations between Real and his current club Manchester United."
The paper added that United are expecting a transfer fee of 15 million euros (19 million dollars), however van Nistelrooy's agent refused to confirm the rumour.
"Ruud hopes to publicly state his new club before returning to training with Manchester United on July 24," said Ruud Linse.

spanish newspapers say it's almost done, but people dont know why Real Madrid signs him, we have Ronaldo, Raúl, Cassano, Robinho, Baptista, Portillo and Soldado. the 6 are good enough, I prefer any of them rather that Ruud

rumour has it that there would be a trade for ronaldo... bad deal for Madrid imo. Ruud is class, one of the best strikers in the world but ronaldo is a better player
chano.. I thought Portillo was no longer with Madrid.....

yes, he's still there. Madrid owns his rights but he plays on a different team every year, and when the season ends he comes back. And Ronaldo wont leave, but he will have to run this year (finally ;D)

Bayern make Van Nistelrooy claim
Bayern Munich have already started talks with Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, according to general director Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. "Van Nistelrooy has told us he would like to play for us next season," Rummenigge told the Bild newspaper.
"We have already spoken about money with him but it would be United who will finally decide."
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson told the News of the World the club had accepted that the 30-year-old wanted to leave.
Ferguson has already rejected a bid from Real Madrid for the Dutch international, who has asked to leave Old Trafford three times since May 2005.
"Ruud asked away before the Arsenal FA Cup final last year, then asked away through his representative, and has now asked away himself in writing," the Red Devils manager said.
"Quite frankly, if he wants to leave, there really is no point trying to persuade him to stay.
"I couldn't tell you why he wants to leave or why his heart isn't in it - all I can tell you is that he has asked away and we have accepted that."
However, the Scot has insisted that finding a new midfielder to replace Roy Keane, who left Old Trafford last November, is more important than replacing van Nistelrooy.
He continued: "The main issue for me is the composition of the midfield.
"When you lose a player like Roy, which was always going to happen as he was getting older, you need a replacement."
Former United midfielder Keane signed a deal with Celtic in December 2005 but announced his retirement as a player in June because of a long-standing hip injury.
Ferguson has also reiterated that winger Cristiano Ronaldo will not be leaving Old Trafford, despite his recent bust-up with club-mate Wayne Rooney during England's World Cup tie against Portugal.
"There is no rift between Wayne and Cristiano," he insisted.
"I know Wayne has been in touch with Cristiano and I don't anticipate any problems."

Good luck Ruud Btw, "Telegraaf" is rubbish, I wouldn't pay any cents for that paper.

Ferguson praises Van Nistelrooy
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has praised the attitude of unsettled striker Ruud van Nistelrooy. Van Nistelrooy has handed in a written transfer request after a bust-up with Ferguson, and Bayern Munich are favourites to sign the 30-year-old.
But he has returned to training and Ferguson said: "At this moment in time Ruud is still a United player.
"He did very well in training on Monday. He showed a good attitude, which is good."
United are holding out for a £15m transfer fee, with both Bayern and Real Madrid having bids turned down, leaving Van Nistelrooy to return to training at Carrington on Monday.
Ferguson, who has flown to Glasgow with a young squad for Wednesday's friendly with Celtic, insists he is not panicking over a lack of new signings.
United have yet to make a purchase this summer, with Atletico Madrid forward Fernando Torres ruling out a move to England on Tuesday.
Tottenham midfielder Michael Carrick continues to be linked with United but Ferguson is unwilling to pay the £17m Spurs are believed to want for the England midfield player.
"We are working on certain things," said Ferguson. "Of course, people are trying to make out we are in a desperate situation. That is far from the case.
"If I was to start the season with the players I have now, all fully fit, I would not be disappointed."

If MU says he must go,then he'll go to Madrid very cheap. says he stays,MU can get good offers. The season is the best chance for Fergi to make everyting under control. I dont think he can bear C.R

Bye-bye Ruud, one of my favourite United players over the last few years, his goalscoring record was superb, our highest ever European Goalscorer almost managing a goal a game, quickest player to hit 100 league goals for the club aswell.
Will be missed
