Is Steve Jones football fan, Tam? I've never seen this, but I watched "The Art of football from A to Z" on TV last night. ;D It was quite interesting.

so lemme gett this straight... there is massive history b/t rival teams.. the blokes roam around in packs looking for fights and respect or just to take out general agression on others ?
soulcrew told me that the punishment for hooligan crimes is now worst that rape, theft etc.. they are realy cracking down..
i also read that hooliganism is back on the rise...
these ppl are different than chavs/scallies or not necessarily ? haha
we dont really have this in the states... maybe philadelphia eagles fans or NYC fans.. mainly exchanges of words.. fights, slashing tires etc..
interesting social phenomena

I think its both - many say, that they want to defend "their" city, district,..etc. - others doing it only for the "kick" they feel insight, when they fight - the crazy thing is, that you can't say, only men from the underclass are doing this - no, also doctors, lawyers and other people with lots of money are taking part soulcrew told me that the punishment for hooligan crimes is now worst that rape, theft etc.. they are realy cracking down.. i also read that hooliganism is back on the rise... Soulcrew is right, but the problem is, that not only hooligans are effected by this laws, also ordinary supporters - see for example the ticket-system at this world cup Back on the rise? Escpecially in eastern-europe there is a massive number of hooligans - and as far as I can see, they are even more brutal than the "old" ones these ppl are different than chavs/scallies or not necessarily ? in my opinion not necessarily And to make it clear: I'm not a hooligan ;D Just interested in this phenomenon, cause I've been following my local-team for many years, and if you like it or not, you'll get involved in troubles - especially at away-games

They just attach themselves to a club and cause trouble where that club go. There are some exceptions, The Soulcrew for example are actually fans of their club (Cardiff City) and up here the Aberdeen hooligans are big fans. In Enlgand especially, a lot of these people have links to far-right groups such as the BNP. We call them casuals up here. On the whole, they area a bunch of pricks the lot of them

I realize that football is deeply woven into the fabric of your society and all but ya mean like skinheads ? hate groups ?
