Charlton manager Alan Curbishley will leave his post at the end of the season, the club have announced.
Plc chairman Richard Murray made the announcement to supporters ahead of the game against Blackburn at The Valley.
The 48-year-old was interviewed by the Football Association recently as they searched for a new England coach.
Curbishley, who was appointed joint manager with Steve Gritt in 1991 and took over in sole charge in 1995, had a year left on his current contract.

i think he took them as far as he could, but unless they already have a replacment lined up i find it a bit strange that he has gone.

That is a very odd announcement...I like Alan Curbishley he seems a really decent sort of person, and has done very well at Charlton.
Don't they like the fact he went for the England job? or has he a job elsewhere?

He said he would leave at the end of the season, regardless of whether or not he'd get the England job. Said he took them as far as he could and that they needed someone new, and that he'd been there too long. I reckon he'll be off to Villa.

More scope at Villa I guess....Curbishley comes across as having integrity which is lacking in the majority of premiership managers.
