Very interesting discussion and a nice read. On a side note, and I know the recordings on this channel were already deemed to be AI fake, the latest one still intrigued me. It is supposed to be a short collection of snippets of a low quality tape demo of "The Mirror & The Razorblade", which is believed to be an early version of the song Morning Glory. Anyway, in the clip you hear Noel sing, to the chorus melody of Morning Glory, "I don't live for Happy Mondays". "Live 4 Happy Mondays" was a song title mentioned in Noel's second publicly known Notebook from 1994 if I remember right. If this is fake, the creator obviously knows his stuff!
The Crimson Rambler , what do you reckon?
Indeed they know a thing or two but not enough. Here's why it's fake and
here's who is behind it all...
1) Firstly the YouTube channel this comes from contains various "demos" many of which have been called out by fans as being fake, or clickbait, to get people to listen to their remix. What are the odds that someone who is known to create fake unreleased demos and pass them off as the real deal is now in possession of actual demos? Occam's razor suggests these are just more of the same.
2) 2 months ago the creator commented on an
AI Oasis song on YouTube so they obviously have some passing interest in this topic. Likewise we know that they're a fan of the band because they've commented on other Oasis related stuff on YouTube.Ā
3) They've attempted to cover their tracks by releasing "short snippets". Basically what this allows them to do is bin off anything that's too obviously fake (like the less convincing parts of the AI vocals) and it means they don't have to come up with a convincing full tune (as in the case of 'Slow', 'Daytura Dream Deferred' and the untitled track).
4) It's not very difficult to create a lo-fi recording of an acoustic guitar that sounds like a demo.
So why would anyone go to all of this effort to fake some demos? The obvious answer to me is for their own amusement. To watch people get excited about stuff they think is legit.Ā
So who is behind it all? Well let me tell you...
If you look through the creator's channel they're obviously a big Eminem fan. They're also an Eminem forum viewer (or member) because they posted in the comments section about the Eminem forums on
this YouTube video they uploaded. So what did the first link of quick Google of
'"Cocaine Rain" eminem forum' show me?
This page which shows a forum member named Zebedee (with the word Banned under his username) who links a fake Eminem demo that's on his YouTube channel (the same one that's uploading the Oasis ones).
Later in the same thread Zebedee posts some alternative accounts he has on the Eminem forum (one of which is spelt the same as on this forum). If you look through
zeberdee 's posts on this forum he actually references Eminem fans in
one post.
What an interesting thread
zeberdee ?
Let's see what
zeberdee posted when the video was initially picked up on here...
that first snippet you can literally hear "noel" stopping and starting his guitar and singing like he's working something out. Pretty detailed "AI" imo.
Im only playing devils advocate here but isnt the guitar also out of tune with his voice? tape "pitch corruption" possibly?
Makes sense now doesn't it? Aren't people
interesting?
