Hi all

42 year old new Oasis fan here (I know – shame on me!).

I was an angry teenager in the 90’s, listening to KoRn, Marilyn Manson, RATM etc. I knew OF Oasis but none of their music really gave me the rebellious release I was after (“Don’t Look Back in Anger” might have helped if I gave it a chance haha)

Fast forward to 2024 and after a random “where are they now” discussion with a friend over dinner a few months ago, Oasis came up. “Wow, Oasis! I had completely forgotten about them! They were massive!” I remember saying.

On the tram ride home I decided to download some old Oasis tracks, of course starting with the hits I (and I imagine anyone who got to experience a pub with a jukebox) knew. Man, they were good. I had no idea how good. I wanted more, so I downloaded as much of the back catalogue as I could. Every song was better than the last!

I could feel an obsession growing haha. I hadn’t felt this excited about a band since I was a teenager, and it truly brought out something in me I’d forgotten was there. I genuinely felt like crying, both from how great the songs were and the fact that I’d (as the kids say these days) “slept on” this band for 3 decades, missing out on countless incredible concerts and moments. Full on sweaty palm regret.

A few days later the friend I dinnered with sent me a message “Oasis are coming to Sydney next November!!!”. I couldn’t believe it. Nothing (together) for 15 years and now suddenly they were back. What timing! (and as I delusionally convinced myself for a moment, fate). I ended up spending way too much money on a couple of nosebleed tickets and now the countdown is on. I’ve even considered overseas travel to see them which I’ve never done for any band before. The FOMO sure is real!!

Anyway that’s a little bit about me, thanks so much for letting me join the forum and apologies in advance for the millions of questions I’m sure I’ll be asking to catch up on/learn all I can about Oasis.
