Why the fuck are people voting for Live Forever?
You can play that song on ukulele with James Blunt singing and it will still be a great song but Monnow Valley version is shit.
There is nothing good or special about it, it just much worse version of Live Forever.

I love the bass line a few seconds in on the Mono Valley Columbia. Sounds like it’s out of a western 🤣

Columbia Sawmills is the only track that is arguably better than the final version.

Sad Song Liam, didn't expect it to be that good. For 92 version compared to stuff like Life in Vain, it's miles ahead.
The rest is a nice listen for hardcore fans, but i wouldn't swap any version with the finished ones. Some nice bits here and there, but clearly, they weren't ready.

The electric guitar bits on Sad Song are great. Wish Noel had kept them for his version.

they all so sound "clean" in a way that oasis would've been labelled a pop band if these versions were released. i really like digsy's dinner, both monrow and sawmills for some reason.
edit 1 : that intro for rock and roll star sawmills version is pretty cool though. edit 2: oh god columbia is terrible for both versions

Sad Song stands out to me as the most special version on this release, the most unique one for sure, as for the rest I consider most of the Monnow Valley recordings to be pretty great, Shakermaker with the Coca Cola bit sounds great, Live Forever and Digsy’s Dinner are awesome as well

Some of these discarded versions sound better than the final versions. Although the classic versions have a better arrangement and richer instruments, the mastering sound is terrible and Liam's voice is also modified too much. These discarded versions have a better sound on the guitars and drums, a longer vocal natural and when you listen to them both with headphones and speakers they sound good and don't break your ears.
