You're telling me that the solution to school shootings is tightening gun regulations? Please, tell me how one of 300,000,000 guns that are in currently in circulation in the United States does not end up in one sick, twisted, yet disturbingly and criminally determined individual's hands. Good luck with that. Reform comes from families. From parents. From teachers. From coaches. From psychiatrists. From friends. From peers. From Law Enforcement. Society needs to look inward. Blaming a weapon is beyond futile. fuck sake, off course gun control is the issue here. you can't allow someone to buy an assault rifle just like that. 19 school shootings in a month and a half is not fucking ok. when the fuck are americans going to realize this? reforms comes from law makers and politicians actually in congress who recieve millions from the NRA. it's not that hard to see from someone in the other side of the world, how can you be so oblivious

Of course guns are a hugh problem. Look at how many shootings there are in America. Also you can kill much more people in a short time by using a gun than by kniving them. The chance people might stop you when you have a gun in your hands is much smaller than when you have a knife. That argument is absolutely irrelevant and completly misses the point. Let's assume, for a second, that Cruz was not able to find a gun. With his anger, angst, and delusions he would almost certainly have still gone on a killing spree: Homemade bombs, IED, acid, poison, knives, the choices are endless. The left's rationale to that is: Well, knives would kill less than a semi-automatic weapon.Yes. But because the root of the problem wasn't identified, investigated, and/or intervened he still would have killed. My entire point to all of this is avoiding any and all types of murder and that can only be done by correctly identifying the problem and looking at the corresponding solutions. No where in any of my posts have I talked about the second amendment. Nowhere in my posts have I discussed the right to bear arms. Why? Because that, too, is irrelevant to this debate. If you want to prevent mass murder, the socio-economic causes need to be understood and addressed. Failing that, all of this will continue to occur. Aye. And what's wrong with that? Surely the U.S., like any nation, should be aiming for as few civilian deaths as possible, no? Tell me, what is the Right doing to address the "socio-economic causes" behind people going on killing sprees? Owt or nowt?

I've seen people argue about who's bigger, Oasis or Nirvana... obviously Nirvana are bigger in the US and Oasis are bigger in the UK but by most metrics the two bands are about equal internationally, about 80m record sales each, similar amount of hit singles, youtube plays, 10m spotify listeners apiece. The only difference being that Nirvana accomplished it in 5 years but then so did Oasis largely... they're two sides of the same coin

I just love the self-righteousness from other countries. The UK loves to criticize the US' health care, but the NHS is a failing system. The UK loves to criticize the US for gun policy, yet its knife and acid crimes are steadily increasing. The UK loves to criticize the US for its foreign policy, yet it's Britain that is ripe with radical extremism. You want to know why knife crime in England is rising? The same reason school shootings happen in the US. The root problems are not being addressed. All that has changed is the weapon of choice. That's not progressive, but rather stagnancy at best. The USA has over 5x as many intentional homicides per capita compared to the UK. (4.88 per 100,000 people compared to 0.92 per 100,000 people, data from 2015 and 2014 respectively) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rateThe UK has many many many flaws, some of which are unique to the UK, some of which are shared with the USA. And so yeah, there's a lot of things here that need fixing, I agree. But the fact that UK citizens are 5x less likely to get murdered compared to US citizens pretty strongly suggests that in this particular area, the USA should check itself for it's own shit and actually learn something from the UK.

Just out of interest, what would you say are some of the UK's biggest flaws that are unique to itself? Arse licking the USA I think most of the unique differences are probably more like parallels in that it's the same core issue that either gets blown up or suppressed, and ends up manifesting itself differently due to different local conditions. Like both sides have healthcare issues, except the UK has a free healthcare system for all that can collapse whereas the USA doesn't. Going back to the original thing about firearms, as Beady has said it's the same core issue whether firearms are available or not, except easy access to firearms generally appear to have a much greater impact, and so if the core issue can't be solved (which I don't think it can be -- murder has probably existed not long after lifeforms became omnivores/carnivores, and so eliminating the core causes of it is imo impossible), the lack of firearms in the UK minimises it, but then leads to other methods becoming more prevalent, but still with nowhere near the impact of firearms.

None of this is a remotely accurate description of what happened. A year ago, Congress and Trump eliminated a proposed rule that would have included in the federal government gun background database people who received disability payments from Social Security and received assistance to manage their benefits due to mental impairments. www.google.com/m?q=trump+mental+health+guns&client=ms-opera-mobile&channel=new&espv=1"To be clear, the rule had opponents. It wasn’t just the NRA that wanted the rule rolled back. Disability rights groups also objected to the bill. The American Civil Liberties Union joined the protest and in a letter to members of Congress, urged for its repeal. “We oppose this rule because it advances and reinforces the harmful stereotype that people with mental disabilities, a vast and diverse group of citizens, are violent,” the letter says. “There is no data to support a connection between the need for a representative payee to manage one’s Social Security disability benefits and a propensity toward gun violence.” www.google.com/m?q=trump+mental+health+guns&client=ms-opera-mobile&channel=new&espv=1

BREAKING NEWS ALERT The FBI says it failed to investigate a specific report in January that Nikolas Cruz could be plotting a school shooting.
The agency said Friday that the tip should've been investigated thoroughly because it was a potential threat to life. Cruz has been arrested and charged with killing 17 people at a high school earlier this week.
On Jan. 5, a tipster who was close to Cruz called the FBI and provided information about Cruz’s guns, desire to kill people, erratic behavior, and disturbing social media posts. The FBI says the caller expressed concerns Cruz could attack a school. ——
Forget the gun control debate, Cruz should have been stopped. End of.

It doesn't matter whether it concerns a school shooting or not. Gun fire shouldn't happen. Not by accident, not on purpose. And maybe I'm being ms. Fucking guns. Carried an assault rifle (sometimes a machine gun) almost daily for 6 months last year and I hope it's the last time I have to do it...
I just don't understand America's gun fetish.
