My dad has finally landed in 2017 and has a smartphone as of yesterday. He also discovered Youtube and it was as if a whole new world opened up for him. He was all excited going "Wow, just watched a Simple Minds concert from 1985. It was two hours long. TWO HOURS LONG! Can you believe it? A whole concert that's over 30 years old in good quality and I can just watch it again as if it's nothing! Amazing! AMAZING!"
Bless him.

"Life is very short, and there's no time For fussing and fighting, my friend" The Beatles That didn't stop The Beatles from splitting acrimoniously after only 10 years though, did it?

I'm so happy with the amp I bought, and only 100€! I haven't even turned the volume knob over 1.5 today because any louder and my family would get annoyed I think I tried it at 2 yesterday and it felt really loud for bedroom use. But when I'm at home alone next time I'll crank it up a bit, probably not more than 3 though. e. There are some presets for Oasis but I'm not sure if they nail the sound. I'll have to try something myself.

Congrats to both our hockey men's team and women's team on winning the European Championship!
What's this, all of a sudden we're some kind of sports supercountry? (Except for our men in soccer, obviously)

I'm not on social media and I don't miss any of them. Think I've said before I have corporate accounts but nothing personal- a) I am not interested in wading through the various amounts of personal, political and romantic stuff that seems to be added every day and b) I'm not interesting or desperate enough to bore people with my own life I do like Sean Lock's take on Twitter though theyknowwhatimean I think social media has helped widen the field of political debate and instigate the breaking down of the right-wing hegemony of our print press in Britain, and so for that I'm thankful for it. But yeah, apart from that I think it's probably the absolute pits. I mean, how has this shite got forty THOUSAND re-tweets?!:
The Millennium generation, and all those (including my lot) who've come after and have grown up with social media, I think quite a few of them are totally lost at sea. They need a swaggering rock band like Oasis were in the 90s to come along and tell them to "get up off the floor and believe in life", and for it to feel like this band are speaking to them and them only... Of course, I'm not being entirely serious with that last point, but I do think it's a dangerous road to go down, living your life entirely through the synthesised reality of social media. Your moods should not be dictated by how many likes something you've posted on the internet has got; you need more substance than that. My granddad recently passed away, and me and my dad were talking the other day about my nana, and how well we thought she was coping, considering they'd been inseparable for sixty-three years, ever since they met at seventeen. I got to thinking - well, it's no surprise her generation is often tougher than we give them credit for, they had to go through some really awful shit in their formative years. But when I see some of the pampered princes and princesses at my university, and clowns like the one above, on social media all the time, getting outraged over trivial nonsense and wallowing in every melancholy feeling that comes their way, I wonder whether the technological advancements we've made in the last two decades haven't made us lose something of ourselves along the way...

My hair is looking absolutely bloody gorgeous at the moment. Kinda like the barnet that helped Paul Weller re-launch his career for the third time, in the mid-90s... ...but a bit wavier. @driver7 The EscapistLet It Bleed

theyknowwhatimean, I'm wearing a Win Butler-ish hat pretty much full time now, with shoulder-length curtains.

I don't even know who I'd compare my hair with. Maybe Syd Barrett... It looks quite close to this now. theyknowwhatimean

Drank three pints of coffee and walked twelve miles since 5am. Feel sick. Feel great. Feel tired.

Fuck, I'm getting worried. Just noticed my right eye is blurry even though I've always had good vision.
I hope it's nothing serious...
