I wonder how much longer I can go wearing my GW hoodie and still blend in with undergrads? #stillnot30

I'm finding it harder and harder to follow the forum. I agree. I think it's partly because there's so much more music out there that's captured my attention besides Oasis and the Gallagher brothers. And let's face it, they only made 2 (arguably 3) great albums anyway, right? After hearing most of their other work, you never want to return to it again. And who wants to listen to the same songs over and over again? But it's also partly because of the lack of news and productive discussion on the forum as of late. That's definitely the most off-putting aspect. But, despite that, I'm still here. I think that, for all of my wandering interests and the lack of a good atmosphere on here, there's still many great members on here that I've gotten to know over the years, the nostalgic pull of the memories of fun I've had on here, the prospect of maybe getting significant release news one day, as well as the simple habit of logging in that's been ingrained in my brain. All this still makes me check this forum nearly every day, even if I don't post nearly as much as I used to. Either that, or I'm just a masochist who likes seeing threads descend into Noel/Liam fighting.

I think I have to see Liam no matter what it cost. I don't think I can handle it if my friends see him in Finland and I don't because I'm travelling with my family that day.
I'm not sure when, though. Serbia is still an option. Although I wish he had some gigs in Manchester because I want to visit that city some day.
This wouldn't bother me so much if I had seen him with Oasis or BE but I've never seen him live so this would be my first time. Imagine if he stopped doing music next year and I'd never see the singer of my favourite band.

"Always look on the bright side of life". Many of us are trying to keep it on subject and we're trying to keep it clean, so why can't you do it too? You don't even consider to try.

If, after then, he's still not doing gigs of his own near you, then get to thinking about it. Noel carried on touring Chasing Yesterday for over a year after it came out, and that wasn't exactly a commercial smash - so don't feel like it's "now or never" or anything. Re: Manchester: I live just next to - and 'study' (for want of a better word) in - it, and I think it's great. Yes, there aren't many things you can do there that you couldn't do in a thousand over places -- but seeing the lead singer of oasis play to a home crowd is one of the few.

Good thing Nicolas Bazire's first drive is under the watchful eyes of his father Jean-Michel. There to make sure he doesn't fuck up too much, Nicolas would have stage (in this case sulky) fright

Manchester sounds like a great option now. Flights aren't very expensive (90€ one way which isn't bad in Finnish standards) and I'd probably stay at hostel. Liam's gigs (I'm sure he's doing some in Manchester) will have great atmosphere and I could watch (lower league) football and maybe other gigs as well. I heard there are also great museums so that's good. How's the pub/club scene? Can I find easily places with great music? How's the beer price (in my town I usually have to pay 5€ for 0.4l...)? theyknowwhatimean

The Venue, I think it was called... Pubs? Again, I wouldn't really know. I do live close to Manchester, but not close enough that it's worth going in just for a couple of pints. Having said that, The Marble Arch and The Old Wellington are two lovely old pubs dating back to who-knows-when, that are worth visiting if only to see them looking all lovely and aged. The prices are quite expensive, yeah. Most cities will be. I guess it depends on the strength of the Euro against the Pound when you're going. (It looks like Liam won't have time to fit any gigs of his own in until the end of the year, what with all these festivals he's doing in Europe -- by which point, maybe Brexit will have started to take hold and the pound'll be even weaker...) As for music, if there's anything on at the Albert Hall when you're there, that'd be nice to go to. It's a lovely venue built into an old church, with drinks counters running all the way down the walls at the side. Other than that, The Ritz - where I saw Beady Eye play in 2013 - is another nice (and very intimate) venue. And, what mimmi said about Piccadilly Records -- I second that recommendation, by the way -- that's in a whole area of town that's centred on music and the arts, so I'm sure you could find something going on around there. And (just because it's one of the few cultural things I know anything about) for eating, there's a great chippy called Wright's that's just next to Albert Square (where they have the German markets at Christmastime).

and a jukebox reminisces in a cracked voice
there is nothing to say. You talk for hours
in agreed motifs, anecdotes shuffled and dealt
from a well-thumbed pack, snapshots.
Never been a big fan of the ol' poet laureate, but this pretty much sums up my experience of pubs. Never really got them. Anyway, I will say that I do like Manchester. There's a nice energy to it, and it shows Liverpool to be quite the bag of shite .

When I've been in foreign pubs it's always been a nice experience, sometimes local pubs too. I approach it by getting little bit drunk and then see where the night's leading me. I dunno, I've always been very curious and I see new possibilities everywhere so a night out is like an adventure. Everything could happen, that's why I like it. And I've heard people saying that you only experience the real culture in foreign countires at night. I mean, my parents always go see all the tourist attractions and that's nice but I feel like I get the best experience when I'm alone (or with couple of friends) at the pub sipping Guinness and just feel the atmosphere

@driver7, my friend in Manchester wanted to take me to the "Dry Bar" once, but it wasn't their opening hour yet. Founder of the bar are Bernard Summer and his men, theyknowwhatimean? I loved Afflecks place. Bought nice Oasis badges, The Smiths poster and a framed Liam pic when I was there last time. www.afflecks.com/
