Hi,
Been playing around with tunings and the tuning Oasis used in 2005 where the second string is tuned down from a B to an A.
Does anyone have tabs for songs they did that year live in that tuning? I think I have worked these out but want to check what others have:
- Lyla - Turn up the sun - Mucky Fingers - Rock n roll star - Bring it on down - any others??
Thanks in advance.

Shock of the Lightning is another. The A and Am are played up the neck.

Why would they have done that?

I believe the noel used this tuning after hearing the Swedish band soundtrack of our lives. Their song “confrontation camp” inspired “Lyla”. Their albums “welcome to the infant freebase and “behind the music” appear to have a few songs where that tuning is used. I’m guessing when Andy Bell joined Oasis he introduced Noel to them. Andy was living in Sweden at the time so would have known about them.
I don’t think Noel uses this tuning for RNRS or BIOD. On both songs live he plays with a capo on the second fret and the chord shapes seem to be standard ones. I’d not heard oasis use this tuning until 2003 when Noel played Stop the Clocks live acoustic at the Zanzibar Club in Liverpool.
The Coldplay song.”one I love” uses the same tuning.

So you just tune down to A but still play the chords exactly the same way?
Seems bizarre!

I’m not sure what Gem plays but I never thought it was a different tuning

Can anyone confirm if he’s using this tuning here? If so, what are the chord shapes??

Can anyone confirm if he’s using this tuning here? If so, what are the chord shapes?? 100% standard tuning. This is how I play it - I believe it's what Noel is playing here. Main chords: 022000 (normal Em) 2x0320 (Dsus2/F# or whatever it is called - I don't have a clue!) 332000 (Cmaj7?) Just play " Em - Dsus2/F# - Cmaj7 - Dsus2/F# " for the most of it... and there's an Asus4 (x02230) for the "gonna try my best to get there" bit. edit: capo on 3rd fret of course!
