Haven’t really been following this…. What year was the Morning Son written?
Didn’t realize/forgot it originates from Oasis.

The grammar has always bothered me with this song. 'The morning sun has risen' or 'the morning sun rises' doesn't work the same I guess. Thank you! I always thought I'm the only one! I love the song but I always yell "risen!!!" 🤣 I'm seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeein' A-whole-nother world in my miiiind I love LLAB, but the grammar right there... Seems this was a particularly bad period for grammar overall if TMS is contemporaneous with the DBTT tracks.

The Sun Has Risen clearly didn't sound right. Rose has been chosen purely for sound. I dont think its a grammar mistake.
But they could have gone with another rhyme. "The Morniiiing Suunn has a hose"
BUT, i'd say usually when a word or verb doesn't fit it means that the melody is not the right one.

What a great find, thanks to maxigonzalez23 and everyone involved for sharing. As for where it might have come from - I remember watching an interview with Kyle Dale of Bittersweet Home in which he showed some Ignition CD-R acetates, so I'm guessing this version of The Morning Son was on one of them as a sampler of what the band was working on at the time. Edit: Here it is, from 7:08 onwards:

During the release cycle of the Beady Eye record I remember an interview where this grammar mistake was brought up and then it seemed like the band was surprised by it.. let me see if I can find it Edit: The song contains the ungrammatical lyric, "The morning son has rose." When told by Q, guitarist Andy Bell said: "I can't believe I didn't pick that up. I'm middle class."

That's probably the only tricky part in the english language. What do you learn in school ? I swaer we had to learn irregular verbs by heart here, i was like 13.

I’m Just Saying has the most annoying “I’m not bothered but so are you” as opposed to the correct “neither are you”

I think it's slightly different now but we never really had to learn the ins and outs of grammar other than the fact that the past, present and future tenses exist as concepts basically. The main focus was on spelling for obvious reasons and I at least essentially learned through tons of reading - terms like past participle and all of that are pretty much alien to any Brit who's never studied a foreign language in any real depth hence stuff like 'the morning son has rose' happens every now and then

Visions of Liam bounding around the studio, throwing instruments in passion:
"Your fucking participle's dangling, you twat!" he shouts.
Andy Bell looks up, concerned.
"And sort out your fucking prepositions, too!" adds the Gallagher.

Its amazing how different Countries learn and transmit their own language, and the importance of it within a conversation. I know where i live you get killed if you used the wrong form of a verb. Like everyone laughs at you.

Like everyone laughs at you. Honestly the amount of grammatical errors that native English speakers make purely because we don't know how our language actually works is shocking. Using 'would of' instead of 'would've' when writing comes to mind, that happens a lot cause it isn't really drilled into our heads that 'have' is the auxiliary verb here. It's fascinating though, you're right! This thread took a turn I didn't expect it to but hey 😂

I always thought the odd grammar was deliberate and that's one of the reasons I liked the song - almost like some sort of speech pattern from the middle ages or the Bible. Indeed in terms of the spelling of the song title the image of a "son" having risen (instead of a "sun") also leans into that Bible imagery. Now I'm told it's not deliberately odd and clever but just the band being a bit stupid? If that's true (and actually I find it hard to believe nobody in the band picked up on the odd phrasing at some stage of the writing/recording) then I don't like it as much! Sorry, but The Morning Sun has falled in my estimation.

Sorry, but The Morning Sun has falled in my estimation. Just because Andy said that, it doesn't mean that it wasn't done on purpose by Liam who is shy about his own lyrics and songwriting in general and tends to downplay everything, doesn't tell people about deeper meanings etc. In general I'm surprised that people would be bothered by grammar in lyrics. They're song lyrics, a piece of art, and not a dissertation, so artistic freedom is very much allowed

I don't think it was due to laziness in this particular instance mainly because 'risen' just doesn't fit with the melody, BUT it does get on my nerves a bit cause I'm a pedant!
