The backing vocals on the LG JS debut are very subtle but I think work well. They are very 'plain' but I think that is intentional to really have the focus be on Liam's vocal. I think it works perfect. In the liner notes, they are not credited to anyone. It happens all the time that backing vocals are not credited, especially if the person doing them is already in the lineup.
The backing vocals do not sound at all like Liam (in most cases). I'm assuming it's John? Live there are no backing vocals which is interesting.

It’ll be Greg Kursten or a session singer.
Johns vocals are very unique.

John hates his singing voice...I don't think he would've put his own voice on this record. (I enjoyed his solo records though)

Hardly any backing vocals/harmonies on the album, apart from Make It Up As You Go Along.
The lack of double tracked vocals just really works IMO - it sounds like a band playing the whole thing live. And it's sensational.

And it's sensational. Just Another Rainbow also has brief backing vocals. I agree with what you say about double tracked vocals?
