I gave several tracks a spin on Apple Music (lol) with Dolby Atmos. I can hear different layers of the music emphasized more and I'm really enjoying it! The difference are not major or overt, but give me a fresh take on tracks that I know and love.
It kind of reminds me of the DYKWIM (NG's 2016 Re-Think).
Makes me wonder if I've missed out on anything else like this on the Oasis re-releases within the past several years.

There is absolutely no sense whatsoever in saying that mp3 are better than CD. MP3 are litteraly the same files that the CD but downgraded. Digital can be better though, with Hi-Def lossless or Atmos. But then the format will not be mp3. The quality of Apple Lossless is very good.

Following the massive surge this past week, I really do hope the reissue is able to get DM all the way back to #1 next week.
With all the tickets they’ll have sold by then, what a way that would be to declare theyre well and truly back.

With all the tickets they’ll have sold by then, what a way that would be to declare theyre well and truly back. I think they have a good chance to score the #1 album. With nearly 15,000 coloured vinyl sales from Blood Records plus thousands of copies sold via the Oasis store and the 'normal' sales, sales will be pretty pretty good. Could be 50,000 + sales... By the way, only 2,000 copies left of the limited edition coloured vinyl: blood-records.co.uk/products/DM

I got my cd and 4 disc vinyl today which I ordered from Amazon and I also got my pink vinyl too. At least I got them on the day of release especially the Amazon stuff as they don't always send their pre-orders out in time for the day of release. I'm just waiting for the Blood records one which I'm not expecting just yet as they usually take longer.

Can anyone confirm that the DM tracks are the same as the 2016 remasters? I'm assuming they are from what I can hear, but then I only listened to Rock 'n' Roll Star before diving right into the Monnow Valley tracks. Has anyone actually compared the main album tracks, or has it already been confirmed that they are the same?

In a way, I'm happy I don't like these tracks as much as the final result. Would be sort of disappointing to find out that the final DM was not their best version. In fact, the only track I like better of the Demos / Outtakes is Columbia Sawmills Outtake and Columbia is my favorite DM track. In fact, the Columbia Sawmills outtake is the only track that has ever challenged Champagne Supernova as my favorite oasis recording.
The only other demo/outtake, I may go back to regularly is Slide Away, which is interesting because everyone is saying how the official version is the better version (it is, but I really like this alternate take)

So the first disc is just the same as Chasing the Sun.

Just listening to DM30 now…. I really like the Monnow Valley and Sawmills variations.
Like the production on Live Forever Monnow Valley.
Fair play, management. You’re spoiling us.

Monnow valley version of Columbia has a real dark, slightly sinister feel about it. Columbia from Monnow Valley is proper menacing. Fucking hell. I'm loving the deeper reverb on the lead guitar.

Still have zero clue why they didn’t tie presale tickets to buying a copy of DM. I understand it’s a sales gimmick but it’s a clever one….

I’m conflicted about the new Monnow Valley mixes. What we're hearing now doesn’t really reflect the essence of those original sessions to me, since they have now been completely reworked and polished to the mixing style of the debut.
On the other hand, the original mixes were so flat that I can understand the need to do this. It now has a powerful sound that the sessions originally didn't have. But going back again, that's the whole point of why the sessions got shelved, so it's revisionism in a way. Or maybe it now highlights what the band was capable of during those sessions after all, and it finally brings out the energy and potential that was buried in the original mix...
Comparing the Japanese 2014 bonus track of 'Bring It On Down' with the new 2024 mix, they demolished the essence of what an outtake is to me either way. It's 25 seconds shorter, which isn't a big deal. But they've obviously tuned the vocals. And they used different vocal bits here and there, maybe from a different take from the same sessions.

I go against the grain. I think many of the Monnow Valley and Sawmills recordings are much rockier than the definitive versions. The sound is much more dynamic and sounds better both in headphones and in stereo speakers. I recreated a completely new DM playlist of my own. Of the classic versions I only kept Supersonic and Cloudburst.

You can understand why they scrapped the Monnow versions and went with the studio release, Live Forever being one , but it’s great to have the other versions too.

The Atmos mix sounds like the first release of 'Definitely Maybe' that is not turned up to 11 and compressed to death.

We have the monnow valley and sawmills versions of Columbia but where does the white label demo fit in? Was that the version from the live demonstration demo tape recorded by the real people?

Others know this stuff better
But Real People/White Label > Monnow Valley > Sawmills > Eden Studios > album version
That should be the lineage of the history of that song.

I wish that they had released the 1993 demo version of Live Forever as a bonus track on this release since they didn't on the Chasing The Sun release.
