HFB 1 is a great record, despite the critics. It's really the last Oasis album.
But I agree that Everybody's On The Run, The death of You and Me, Alone on the Rope, Broken Arrow or Wrong Beach are great tracks.
Dream On, If i had a gun and Solder Boys are strong album tracks, What a life too (i know some were singles). Not a bad track on it, although there are better version of STC and Record Machine. They shouldnt have been on it, and he should have put Alone on the Rope, Let the Lord Shine a Light on Me instead.
But I guess he needed to be reassured and put some friendly track on it.
After that, Noel's career has been a bit meh. Chasing Yesterday is like Council Skies. a compilation of different sessions, where Noel doesnt know what to go.
WBTM is a great concept but lack 2 strong tracks. The EP were a nice experiment and I really enjoyed them.
Kinda Looks like Oasis career really. It could (and should have been) better after a great start.

I reflect on the fact that although some have spewed hatred at JHR, the song seems to have been a success nonetheless. And this pleases me. Those among the privileged who have already listened to the album have said that it is good, so good expectations are assumed.

Those among the privileged who have already listened to the album have said that it is good, so good expectations are assumed. I wouldnt be so sure of that. Early comments and reviewers are always saying its fantastic. Its a tactic to get the buzz going, but that does not mean anything as its mostly always "friends" or friendly press. Which doesnt mean that's its shite, of course.

Also, as much as I've enjoyed Liam's solo songs I don't find them really mind blowing either. However, I still enjoy both brother's solo stuff more than I do some of Oasis's stuff.

So hypothetically for Liam to have a number 1 single or even come close - He clearly needs to make a one off single with no album announcement yet, similar to this. That achieves the order side of things and gets him to number 1 initially and on sales overall. He would then need the song to be featured on an advert or film a couple of weeks prior. Probably perform it on a few shows that week etc. Maybe something of the scale of one love concert again. There's a lot of factors you'd need now unnecessarily to get it high in the charts. I think #16 is a massive success for the song though and shows the album will be #1 and a worthwhile project. Just hope the songs improve a bit. I think if you don't manage to get it into some huge playlist it's game over no matter how hard you try I fear #16 it's brilliant but it's also due to it coming out in a week when literally NOTHING comes out

It really is personal preference. If you love these great. For me they are all above average at best. I'd put Dead in the Water at the top. Simple game is a non factor for me. If I had a gun was extremely over produced and so was everybody's on the run. Yep personal preference. In the last 10 years or so I listen more to Noel's solo and select songs of Liam's than I do Oasis but maybe that's because I've been listening to Oasis for 30 years. I've got a playlist of Oasis top 21 and I mostly listen to that. I will give albums a spin every now and then but most are just so patchy. Chasing Yesterday is my favorite Noel Album. It's like he took a deep breath and didn't overdue it like he did on his 1st Album. I absolutely love Song remains the Same and Lock all the Doors

While enjoyable and exciting, it does have some flaws buried within it. - I was always against Stop The Clocks and Record Machine being on his debut album. These were infamous Oasis songs from almost a decade prior. Not to mention we already âgotâ them 4 years earlier when the DBTT sessions leaked in 2008. Spoiler Alert: They were both justâŚâŚ..ok. Definitely prefer the demos to the versions on HFB. Something is lacking in the newer ones. - Songs like Do The Damage and Freaky Teeth should have been on the album over the tracks mentioned above. Granted Freaky Teeth is way too slow and plodding in current form. The live version is faster, more sinister and better keyboards. - I have no idea what Noel did to A Simple Game of Genius. That song sounded rip roaring in the 2009 soundchecks. Noel was properly channeling Neil Young and Crazy Horse. Guitars to 11. Sound raging. The studio version is shorter and extremely tame. A missed opportunity for me. - I was always more fired up for the AA album he teased at his debut album announcement presser. Shame that died. Would still love to hear it even if it was shit. Same applies to DIV sessions. Iâm still holding out hope Noel makes it a RSD release on day. Seems tailor made for that event.

My brother (who is not an Oasis fan like me) listened to JHR on his own yesterday and then came to tell me that it's his favorite post-Oasis song so far. His words: "Liam's voice sounds great and they finally put blues streaks and a proper guitar solo into it! If the album has these sounds, I'll probably buy it too this time. I'm sure that that solo of guitar would drive even Jack Black crazy if he listened to it!"

And it was obvious Noel needed something big to sell his first solo record. what's best : unknown songs or two never released but highly talked Oasis tracks that would make the headlines and fans expecting for something huge... I mean, it was an easy decision. Not musically, but strategically.

Yes! Bring it on! I think it's gonna be the track that will tell us if it's a winner or binner. I like Just Another Rainbow but it can't sustain an album on its own

I would imagine something more aggressive and less melodic. That's my guess but super excited for another tune.

Liam doesnât mess about does he!?
At this point he could tweet that the album features a verse by Kanye West and I would believe him.
Anyway yeah, new track next week. We definitely wont have to wait for the album at this rate

Next Track being released next week. Liam just confirmed on Twitter Funnily enough I was just thinking thet should release another track soon and keep up a bit of momentum They always had to have a quick follow up single in the pipeline. If the album is due out in April the cycle has to start now. They need a new song to promote the presales. So it makes sense.
