Wenger has allowed the team to wither on the vine, to an extent. You can't just blame losing Viera, though Christ knows we've been lacking muscle in the midfield (Diaby looks promising though, cracking foul on Campo at the weekend, fuck Bolton). If you think back, Viera was arguably going off the boil in his last season and a half at the club, and winning the FA Cup was utterly misleading as that final was probably the biggest bit of daylight robbery in the history of the competition.

We have too many kids playing who need leadership, and the experienced heads - Ljungberg, Le Bob, Sol (who was absolutely WRETCHED last night and effectively cost us the game; he deserved to get dragged off) - aren't cutting the mustard. Injuries and lack of strength in depth mean that players like Gilberto, who are having shit games week in-week out keep getting back in the squad. Players like Pascal Cygan (one of our worst signings EVER, the man is fucking useless) end up at left back.

It's a bad season, there's no getting around it. If we finish above the YIds I'd be happy, but that's looking unlikely at the minute. There is no confidence in the squad it seems. I think some of this falls on the Captain; Thierry, for all his qualities, is not a Captain, and strikers as captains are invariably shit at the job (hello Shearer). I know he is senior and Wenger is trying to make him feel loved but he can't lead the team, either through not being that way in his own personality or because he is standing around on his own up front waving for service. Central defenders and midfielders make the best Captains, IMHO. Sacking Arsene would obviously be utterly idiotic at this stage, but he needs to bolster the team with something other than yet another 19 year old who can get shoved off the ball. Some of the players need a kick up the arse (especially Gilberto and Pires - was it me or could he have hooked that 3rd West Ham goal off the line last night but he chose to try and side-foot it out and it went in his own net??). Disappointing times.

ashley cole is going, imo henry is the perfect captian, because hes the only player who gives 100% and is as vocal as gerrard is, he leads by example, very easy to hand out blame, the current run is just bad luck and a poor defence, i have the utmost faith in my team, im not one of these wankers that scream in peoples faces when there winning, and when there losing crying for managers or players to be sacked, ie liverpool or newcastle fans
