Peterborough United manager Mark Wright has been sacked for gross misconduct following a disciplinary hearing.
The former Liverpool and England defender, 42, was suspended last week following rumours of a row.

A statement on the club website said he was dismissed after failing to attend Tuesday's hearing at London Road.

"The club feel badly let down after giving Mark the chance to re-establish himself within the football community."

Wright admitted to dropping young centre-back Sean St Ledger to the bench against Lincoln last weekend following a dispute with coach Steve Bleasdale.

However it is still not known whether it was this incident that led to his suspension.

Wright has yet to comment on the matter, apart from labelling the accusations levelled against him as "laughable".

The former Southport, Oxford United and Chester City manager took over at London Road in May last year and has led Posh to ninth place in League Two, despite owner Barry Fry putting his entire squad on the transfer list over Christmas.

Bleasdale, who led Posh to a 2-1 win over Grimsby on Saturday, has taken over first-team affairs with immediate effect.
