Honestly, I think Noel being apart of Oasis from 2000-09 held his songwriting back. He wrote songs to Liam's voice and the "Oasis rock" and "60s British-influenced" style, then didn't fully dig out of that until Chasing Yesterday -> Who Built the Moon? (no shade on Alone on the Rope, Let the Lord Shine a Light on Me and Soldier Boys and Jesus Freaks, though). I can even tell on Counci Skies his Oasis-style songwriting has some of that David Holmes influence and it really makes the songs feel more fluid and groove in a way we wouldn't have ever gotten with Oasis. Yep. But I’d change that to 2002-2009. I see your point. Only reason I say 2000-2009 is because Noel had written all of the SOTSOG songs and was coming out of that era before it even got started. I mean, he wrote Force of Nature, of all songs, around that time, and did things like the Tour of Brotherly Love that felt like a step toward what we got with the type of songs and style we got in the 2000s. I'm just glad he's out of it now.

I still have Lock All The Doors as his #1 solo song. Just love the feel of the music and the sentiment of the lyrics.
I'm surprised it doesn't get a little more love in the above lists.

Dead In The Water A Dream Is All I Need To Get By It's A Beautiful World Holy Mountain Everybody's On The Run Broken Arrow If Love Is The Law Man Who Built The Moon While The Song Remains The Same Sail On
Too early to put Council Skies tunes in here but there will inevitably be a smattering here and there (I'm Not Giving Up Tonight in pole position).

Yikes, this was harder than I expected, I had to really think about it. I've also decided to be controversial and include newer songs, but these are - right now - my top ten favourites in order:
1. Alone On The Rope 2. She Taught Me How To Fly 3. Dead In The Water 4. While The Song Remains The Same 5. Dead To The World 6. Everybody's On The Run 7. I'm Not Giving Up Tonight 8. You Know We Can't Go Back 9. Simple Game Of Genius 10. A Dream Is All I Need To Get By
NGHFB era - 3 songs CY - 2 songs WBTM - 2 songs EPs - 1 song CS - 2 songs
Which is interesting, every cycle of music he has done has produced at least 1 of my favourite NG songs, for a fairly even split

Good to see While the Song Remains the Same getting a lot of love. I've always loved that song but it just seemed completely forgotten about. He only ever played it live once I think? And I think that might have been for a TV special rather than in front of an audience.

Very happy to see it get mentioned.

1) Everybody's On The Run 2) While The Song Remains The Same 3) If I Had A Gun 4) Let The Lord Shine A Light On Me 5) You Know We Can't Go Back 6) Flying On The Ground 7) Dead To The World 8) We're Gonna Get There In The End 9) It's A Beautiful World 10) In The Heat Of The Moment
Could probably change the last few with whatever I'm feeling but I think I like this for me. Noels consistency over the years is great as a fan to always have a new song to make me feel understood in ways I didn't know was possible.

There are SO many fantastic Noel solo songs and any ranking I give them would change with my mood, so I don't think I can go that far, but I will say that DITW is one of the most gorgeous ballads ever recorded.
Many of the others I would rank highly are already on this list (including AKA, What a Life, You Know We can't Go Back, Everybody's on the Run, If I Had a Gun, Ballad of the Mighty I, Lock All the Doors and more).
I haven't read every post carefully, but a few that don't get the praise I think they deserve (or my guilty pleasure songs, if you prefer -- and thanks to those of you who may have given these a mention). They MAY or MAY NOT make my top 10 on any given minute of the day, but here they are: - She Taught Me How to Fly ("You lost you're mind and your makeup; they say you lost your money, too..." Brilliant). - If Love is the Law (the rollicking organ and the lyrics of star crossed lovers really make it sing). - The Man Who Built the Moon ("He arrived on a knackered horse" and "You and I, the spider and the fly, will meet where the shadows fall" along with that wonderful, foreboding E minor key really give this one a dark and mysterious vibe).
But since a few minutes have passed since I started writing this, I have thought of more... no... kidding. That's all for now. Thanks!
