I guess you cannot say this in public, but I think the original song ... is not very good. Liam's voice makes it a little better, but it's still a rudimentary song

is an easy song to cover for liam bit of a cop out of one. lash on the distortion on vocals and ur good. if ur going to do that lest do give me some truth.

Like a few here have said, i think it had an uphill battle to win my approval as I never really adored the original composition and recording.
It’s….listenable, I wouldn’t say Liam makes it any worse, but it’s not something that I feel an urge to replay.

One of my favs from the Imagine album. I like slide guitar. Also nicely used on TGFGU. I'm cool with this.
Anybody have an idea who is playing that slide?

Eh... how many more Beatles/Lennon covers do we need from both Gallaghers? Still hundreds to go before they cover everything. They really need to do alot more of these covers more regularly if they're ever going to get through them all. |

I tend to dislike Liam's modern voice when he's signing too comfortably. He needs to be pushed like in the chorus of Wall Of Glass/Everything Electric or with songs in a higher key like Too Good For Giving Up or For What It's Worth.
Otherwise he just croons his way lazily through a tune and it doesn't sound very good (see also Moscow Rules or Come On You Know). He has this habit of throat singing his way through softer songs and then singing through his nose to hit the high notes and imo it just doesn't sound very good. He did a whole album like that in BE and it's universally considered to be his weakest ever vocal performance on an album.
Not only is the song boring and one of Lennon's weakest it's far too comfortable for Liam and I think he sounds really lazy on it. Do Instant Karma or Nobody told Me ffs.

Didn't say they were getting through it, but I think a few is enough over the course of a career when there's endless artists to choose from. What's more, they just further show up the poor Beatle/Lennon imitations of latter Oasis and Beady Eye (Who Feels Love, Born On A Different Cloud, Let There Be Love, half of Dig Out Your Soul, most of Beady Eye). |
