Of course! They would have been a local band that a handful of people could have liked for a time and then disappeared without anyone noticing. They didn't have the songs, the discipline or the contacts needed to get anywhere. And Noel might have been a roadie all his life or a session guitar player or drummer. He wouldn't have had the drive or confidence to try the solo thing.

As Noel said, he wouldn't have gotten anywhere without Liam and vice versa.
