Anjali Dutt: «In the studio Liam didn't stop once he left, he kept singing, always perfectly in tune, never out of tune. He's not afraid if he has to go from this note to that. He will go from this note to that»
Tim Holmes: Liam is perhaps the loudest screamer of anyone I've ever recorded with and his vocal performance was outstanding. He roared like a lion for about three hours.”
Dave Sitek: «Liam is super talented. I remember in the studio (in 2012 ed) when for the first time I heard him approach the microphone, with no effect on the voice, I said: 'wow'!»
Noel Gallagher: «We would go into the studio, he would listen to the song just once, instrumental, then he would take the lyrics and sing it. Perfectly. Liam is the only one who can afford to sing my songs. Her voice is like Coca Cola... you don't know the ingredient that makes it different from all the others.»
Liam: «I've always been the first in the studio and the last out. I love to see how the whole song comes out. So bring me the cameras, bring them to me for the next album and you'll see. With the microphone in the studio I'm going to the wedding, man. I'm like Mike Tyson: when the mic is in front of me, he takes them. In the studio I struggle less than when I'm on stage. It's louder live because of the guitars and all that stuff. On stage between guitars, drums and audience screaming loudly you can't sing like you're in the studio. No time to use your diaphragm.»

I love him the "listens to it once" thing is absolutely mind-blowing to me

'First in the studio and the last one out'? What about when they were making Morning Glory at Rockfield, and him and Bonehead were spending all their afternoons in the local boozer while Noel did it all? Think Liam just liked the sound of that phrase in his mouth; I don't believe it's true of him at all.
Still, Noel's quote is interesting. That dynamic between them when they were a creative partnership of sorts is fascinating to think about -- infinitely more so than the tabloid-baiting, sibling rivalry bullshit.

The boozer is Liam's studio! That's where the art comes from!

And let's not forget the unrecorded/unfinished vocals for at least 2 songs for DOYS.

And let's not forget the unrecorded/unfinished vocals for at least 2 songs for DOYS. I read that at the time there were fights between Liam and Noel in the studio. There were songs that veered in other directions that Noel wanted and Liam didn't agree. He said: "It's an Oasis album and I'm only going to put my voice on songs that sound like Oasis. I don't want my voice on any other shit." And on this I am glad that he has decided so

Saying that, both Andy and Noel praised Come On Outside so I'd be surprised if Liam thought it was shit. Surely the Oasis version wouldn't have been the bland thing it ended up being.

Hmmm….while some of these may be overpraising a tad, its good to see praise at all. As the public perception of Liam in the studio seems to be that he turns up, does one take, then clears off to binge while the musicians do all the work.
Obvs the time when he was least professional was making WTSMG, but ive long said that those stories like him bringing the whole pub back and the cricket bat fight tarnished his reputation as a professional.

Who can forget the WTSMG story. But I agree that Liam does seem to turn up in the studio. However, how long he really stays there we don't really know other than what has already been stated by the people who have worked with him over the years.

Didn't Oasis also get kicked out of Abbey Road Studios for partying during the making of Be Here Now?

I think it was much truer from SOTSOG onwards. Didn’t someone use that exact phrase to describe him.

In an interview from 2008 for German Rolling Stone Gem said that Liam was already in the studio before the equipment was even there and how he was really eager and passionate for recording. I've got that issue at home and just read it again.

Just like Record Machine and Stop the Clocks didn't became Oasis songs I don't know if it's a lame excuse but it was the reason given by Noel as to why Record Machine and Come Out It's Alright weren't on DOYS. I've yet to see anyone contradict this version of events apart from what Diamond in The Dark just wrote in this thread.

I've yet to see anyone contradict this version of events apart from what Diamond in The Dark just wrote in this thread. As I remember it the story Noel said at the time was that the band were either recording or mixing at village studios in LA and there were two songs that just needed Liam to put vocals on, possibly stop the clocks and record machine. Unexpectedly Liam returned to the UK in February 2008 and got married to Nicole Appleton so the songs were never finished. I also found it odd that they never played bag it up or the turning live during that tour, apart from Noel doing the turning in a sound check. Were there issues during rehearsals for the tour?

If you call Liam refusing to turn up to soundcheck to rehearse then yes I think it was a big problem. They both are (probably) to blame equally as Noel didn't want to do too much work to put new songs in the set list either. I posted this on Reddit last month, it's just my uninformed take, as an observer, on what was up in this period: _________________________________________________ "Noel blamed Liam for 'not finishing' the vocals for 2 tracks (Come On Outside was one) but who knows the truth? They were both playing head games with the other through the life of the band. I think the big problems started on the DOYS tour though, having to be around each other in dressing rooms, Liam didn't come to rehearsals with the rest of the band. You get the sense that any time Noel and Liam were left in each other's company there was the potential for aggression, arguments, and the chance of a physical fight. There had already been two huge fights: when the recording of WTSMG ceased in mid 1995, the famous cricket bat incident and then in 2000 when Noel thrashed Liam for suggesting Anais was not actually his child. And those are just the fights we know about."

Things on that DOYS tour just didn’t look or sound right at all. I’m not sure how they (Liam and Noel) could have sorted things out, do they meet before the tour and address their issues and talk it out? Unfortunately they’re not the talking kind. Or at the end of the tour do they just have a long break and let the tension fade away over time? Sadly things deteriorated before they could make it to the end of the tour.
