(2*) Reference to the film 'The Exorcist', in which we see the head of Regan MacNeil (later Angela Rance) turning compulsively as possessed by the devil.

(3*) King Midas in Greek mythology is known for his ability to turn everything he touches into gold.

(4*) This is a boxing technique commonly associated with Muhammad Ali in the famous 1974 Rumble in the Jungle against George Foreman. In competitive situations outside of boxing, the term rope-a-dope is used to describe a strategy in which one party purposely places itself in a seemingly disadvantageous position, thereby seeking to achieve eventual victory. It is therefore mainly based on the style of play of the rival.

Liam uses this metaphor to tell the technique used by his brother Noel to come out unscathed and "clean" from the end of Oasis, placing all the blame on him (Liam) and causing him to fail.
