Admittedly, this thread might upset some people but I was thinking about this alternate timeline that covers what could have happened had Knebworth been in 1997 :
April 1996:
The Maine Road gigs bring an end to the Morning Glory Tour
May/June 1996:
What we know as the Mustique demos are created
August/September 1996
The band reconveines at Ridge Farm studios to begin work on Be Here Now
October-Early December 1996
The band tour Australia/New Zealand and a few gigs in Japan are included (kind of similar to how the band performed at Glastonbury in the middle of the WTS sessions). The set list is what we would know as the US summer 96 set list
January/February 1997:
After christmas the band reconveines at Air Studios to finish the album. These sessions mainly consist of recording strings, some vocals and other overdubs and the album is finished
May 1997:
2 nights at Knebworth are announced for 15/16th August 1997 and are sold out
In late May Dyou Know What I Mean is released
July 1997:
Be Here Now is released
The band rehearse for the BHN tour/Knebworth
August 1997:
All Around the World is released as a single in an attempt to be the song of the summer
8th/9th August-Warm up gigs
15th/16th August-Knebworth (Second Night is broadcast on radio 1)
The setlist will be the 16 song set list we are familiar with in our timeline from bootlegs (though Magic Pie is swapped for Don't Go Away)
September 1997:
Don't Go Away is released as a single
Oasis embarks on a US tour. 2 nights at Hammerstein Ballroom are a warm up for 2 nights at Radio City and TV appearances on SNL/David Letterman
Late September 1997: The band returns to the UK for an arena tour, before starting a European tour in October
This is probably very controversial but could also be quite an interesting 'what if?'
