Some trivia for you - this is the first World Cup ever where teams from all five continents have made it past the group stages.
Lesser important trivia - Germany vs Costa Rica 4-2 again! I have fond memories of the 2006 opening match.

I just knew this would happen, but we deserve it. After our peak in 2014 by winning the World Cup and having pep, Klopp and Tuchel in the Bundesliga we regressed and became mediocre as a football league and nation.
The team has No leadership since Schweinsteiger and lahm retired, we have no wing backs and no striker which is embarrassing. Our youth compared to England or France isn’t particularly good either. We’ve got a lot to do before we host the euros in 2024.

Like Sadie said, this feels like the least hyped World Cup in existence. I was only now seeing these terrible commercials for it while watching the World Series. Of course I’ll be rooting for our boys back home and hopefully they won’t lose in heartbreaking fashion. I’ll also be rooting for Croatia, because I randomly started following them while watching the 2018 cup. I liked how Luka Modrić played despite knowing nothing about the game. However, it’ll probably be France or Germany holding the trophy this year. Oh...  Well at least France looks unstoppable... I think. |
