Noel Gallagher has praised the late George Best - insisting he was "cool as f**k". The Oasis guitarist admits he was a huge fan of the football legend, who died last week of alcoholism, despite the fact he played for Manchester United - the arch-rivals of Noel's favourite team Manchester City

He said: "Georgie transcended football

He was called the fifth Beatle and he looked cool as f**k
He owned a nightclub and a clothes shop and drove a Ferrari and he shagged Miss World

The only thing he didn't do in his life that was cool was play music, and he probably would have been good at that, too

" Noel also revealed he met Best, who is being buried in his native Northern Ireland today (03-05-05), on several occasions and was blown away by the great man

He added: "I met him a few times He was real good fun"
