Just finished a rewatch of DARK, first rewatch since the series ended. It's just fantastic even better the second time. Not even a stretch to call it the perfect show. It's so well thought out, so well written. If you haven't seen it yet, it's a must watch. It is a German language series, but it's worth it!
That being said, if you're unfamiliar with it and its concept, it's a headache inducing show. It will cause you mental anguish trying to figure out all the threads and what is going on. But it's a good pain, especially once you're able to connect those threads and follow them to the origin.

I watched the first few series and thought it was was quite bland. The writing was fairly plain outside of the plotting, and by the time it was reaching it's conclusion it wasn't even the best show coming out that month. Michaela Cole's I May Destroy You came out at a similar point and made everything else just look inessential for a while for me, one of those shows that hits your heart and make you think differently about your own life and how your experiences shape your current view of women/sex. What wasn't well written? I don't think there is a better example of time travel in other shows or film.

I'm somewhere between the two of you on Dark, though I can't think of a show any more different in intent than I May Destroy You so I wouldn't even bring that into the conversation.
Dark did suffer a bit on the characterization side and at times I think approached the limit of how many story lines a human mind can keep going at one time, which somewhat thwarted its ability to do what television does best: intimate storytelling. But it was probably the greatest feat of story organization I have ever seen (the writers must have had rooms upon rooms of note cards and charts.) And I loved its sheer ambitiousness -- its very rare interest in tying complex philosophical ideas into breathless suspense.
Invisible Sun, have you tried Severance?

Great great show. Loved it all. Fantastic conclusion of a heavy plot.

Oh yes, I understand completely. That's why I enjoyed it more on my rewatch. Things were easier to grasp now that I sort of knew what to expect. (With further aid from the Netflix website guide dark.netflix.io/en) Yeah, there's not much else like it yet on TV/streaming that I am aware of.
Severance is on my list, but I haven't got to it yet.

Great great show. Loved it all. Fantastic conclusion of a heavy plot. I like that the show builds up this incredibly complex plot as a consequence of human meddling with forces they don't fully understand and in the final episode, the solution to the problem created was relatively simple and elegant. Art imitates life perhaps.

Not seen this show, but added to my watchlist. Makes Primer look like a breeze!

I really liked this show. I only watched it once, I may have to do a rewatch soon although not quite so similar but it reminded me a bit of Fringe, which is one of my all time favourite shows

Not seen this show, but added to my watchlist. Makes Primer look like a breeze! Oooo now that you mention it, Primer might have the edge on complexity. It just lacks the production value that Dark is able to bring.

Another show that is quite different in tone and setting (and is only one season long) but dives into some of the same ideas as DARK is Alex Garland's "Devs." (Not time travel exactly, but multiple worlds and determinism.) It's not fast-paced so it's probably not for everyone but it is very cinematic and very smart. Think it's on Hulu and Amazon Prime in the US.

I liked it a lot and I liked the complexity of it. However, it took me a while to get through it. It's quite a lot to grasp.

Got around to Severance. It was great! Sad thing is, pretty sure corporations would do that shit if they had the tech right now. Elon's Neuralink for example.

Been meaning to finish Fringe for the past 10 years that's the one show i just cannot finish How is Dark compared to US shows ? I'm always a bit hesitant when it comes to foreign shows i gotta admit. British ones can be very slow (although some good ones like The end of the fuckin world). Severance was great too, although the first two episode were a bit boring.

That is one scary business, Elon's Neuralink. Apparently 70% of the monkeys they've cruelly implanted it in have died. Makes one pine for another bit of sci-fi .... Revenge of the Planet of the Apes.
