I can't believe this and I was shocked and saddened when I read it on the BBC World news pages earlier. I do like the Foo Fighters even though I don't like everything they do. But they have made some good songs.

I'm not a fan of Foo Fighter, out of ignorance I just don't know their music. But when you know of the drummer of a band you're not familiar with, then you know he's a force of nature.

So sad and so young too. RIP, and thoughts with his friends, family and his millions of adoring fans.

Could be anything true but probably an overdose of something. Sad that he was under all those substances. Foo fighters did a lot of touring and very long gigs. Too much ?

He lived his life the way he wanted.

I am sure that even he would joke about his death now if that is somehow possible.

I always saw us musicians and music lovers as one gang, with same sense of humour and same way that we look at the life. I really don't give a fuck what idiots on social networks or wherever are saying.

I don't love or use drugs but if he loved them and die because of them, well, there are worse ways to die 🤣 At least he was in Colombia so it was probably good stuff 🤣

I’ve always liked a lot of the Foos big hits but hadn’t listened to any albums until recently, since two months ago. Those big drums on “My Hero” are just phenomenal. Seems like he was someone who was very warm and genuine, and whatever his own demons, was able to connect well and meaningfully with others. That’s a special gift.

Big loss, definitely. I’ve been seeing a lot of support for him over the last day or so. Seems he was very well loved.

Yeah he joined after Colour and The shape, but he was really a "rival" to Grohl, huge drummer. The first three record are amazing.

I'm a fan of the Foo fighters pre 2005, after that they went a bit downhill, but overall they were all cool and nice guys, they only brought joy to the world, which is rare. Both Grohl and Hawkins were / are aware how lucky they are to be where they are, and that seems not that obvious for many rock stars.

My fav moment from the two of them is this. It's from millions years ago but it's still gold



I suppose drugs and medication are necessary in this crazy rock n roll world, although some manage to stay out of it.

Just goes to show you never know what's really going on inside someones head, also that if you've been partying your whole life, it's probably a really good idea to slow down when you hit middle age.

People age at different rates on the outside, but inside a 50yo man is quite fragile, it wasn't long ago that was considered old age and while we've gotten quite good at mitigating and hiding external ageing, internally it takes a toll on everyone and what was once a fun party dose as a young man can easily become a dangerous overdose at that age when your organs aren't as strong as they used to be.

RIP, I really liked the guy, it's such a shame.
