Not quite.
And here’s why: The Turning is one of the best of DOYS (and I love DOYS), and is up there with the Best Oasis Songs of the 2000’s - but it’s not quite an Oasis Classic simply because it had no chance of establishing itself due to the immediate disbanding. If it had been a single, I would bump this vote to a higher category.
The Turning is this album’s Go Let It Out, even though the latter was indeed a single and indeed an established Oasis Classic. Fair comparison, though.

It certainly isn't but it sure is one of the most epic songs they've released.

Really isn't. And I love the song, but it's just not an Oasis Classic.
I'd argue the only post-2000 song worthy of being called an Oasis Classic would be Stop Crying Your Heart Out. But even then.........

Agree it should've been a single but not a classic.

No certainly not. However it's a good song though even though I prefer Bag It Up. But neither song are classics, infact none of the Dig Out Your Soul album is a classic.

No, it isn't a classic. But it is brilliant. I'd argue it's better than GLIO as per the previous thread. The intro is heavenly. The best drumbeat intro since Definitely Maybe.

I love it but I never quite liked the choir parts on it. I feel like the last chorus where that heavy instrumental all comes in should have been that way throughout.
I think its good that it wasn't a single because it wouldn't really have done them any favours outside the fanbase.
I am a fan of Dig Out Your Soul but it's hard to say any of the songs are really singles in the sense of what a single should do for an album. Which is suprising for Noel because not only did he have them songs up his sleeve, but he always knew the exact formula required to get a strong lead single and maximise an albums sales from the back of the singles.

No, because it was never played live. And Liam probably would've butchered it anyway at that point.

Remember Noel (moreso than Liam) sabotaged the second half of that record. He, like with all the 2000’s albums, had the songs…. Yet somehow managed to mangle the track listing each time.

With DOYS, we got three Noel written Liam sung rock songs, for the first time since SOTSOG, and somehow they didn’t play two of them live?! That album campaign could have been so much better (harbinger of things to come I suppose).

Always loved TT but no where close to being a classic.
In my Top 5 Oasis songs of the 2000s though.

I think he was very conscious that his songs had to be seen as the best songs on the record but he also didn't want to use anything that would have been good for a solo record. Stuff like Bag It Up, The Turning and Shock Of The Lightning he'd never be able to sing himself anyway.

Ehhhh I never held the belief that Noel was hoarding songs for solo material at the expense of Oasis. Perhaps a few, but I don’t believe in that theory. DOYS is an apocalyptic semi concept album. The end of Oasis was fitting, which makes DOYS even more relevant and for that the better.

I can't justify why Get Off Your High Horse Lady was picked above songs like If I Had A Gun for any other reason than he was keeping them songs for his solo career.

It's closer to being a classic than GLIO on the merits of just being a much better song, but it's only my fourth or fifth favorite off the record and wasn't even a single, so... probably not?

Imagine Liam doing this one with his current voice. He would kill it. Not suggesting he should do it solo, he absolutely should not - just a missed opportunity for Oasis.

I wish Liam should do some of his/Gem's songs live instead of Noel written songs. 'Boy with the blues', 'Born on a different cloud', 'Pass me down the wine', 'Love like a bomb' to name a few. Good songs that never or very rarely appeared in an oasis live set. Would be something new for the fans too. He has the chance to showcase these songs now.

Love the song, but Devil Woman is the classic. Noel ripped it pretty hard. Listening to both songs back to back is really fun though.
