"Seventeen Going Under" was at number three on the UK Singles Chart on 7 January 2022, highest than any rock/guitar/alternative band/musician has been since 2013.
Two albums, two number one albums.
He deserves his own thread.

Definitely my favourite new artist of the past 5 years, and both his albums are absolutely incredible. Most exciting and authentic UK artist going at the moment.
"Dead Boys" is one of my absolute favourites from him, haunting, powerful and sad.
Even his covers are good, he does an incredible version of "Waiting For Love" by Avicii.
Hope he cleans up at the brits tonight!

I saw him live in Cardiff in November and he was amazing, the original date was in March 2020 so I had to wait ages but god it was worth it

One of the most interesting "new" artists around. Hints of Springsteen and The War on Drugs. Both his albums so far are really, really good!

One of my favorite songs from last year: I’d heard of him but had never listened to a single song. A couple of hours ago I heard Seventeen Going Under. It’s glorious, what a tune. Like you say there are echos of Springsteen channeled via Newcastle.

If you haven't heard this one, check it out. His guitar here is tuned down to a baritone tuning... just add a heavy '80s chorus effect and you've got the secret ingredient to turn your melancholic daydreaming into sound. Fabulous.

Maybe my fave off Hypersonic Missiles, such a great tune As I've said in other threads I think not only he is a brilliant and charismatic enough songwriter but he seems willing to fill the void that has been there since Arctic Monkeys broke out onto the scene for the guitar music young kinda-working class crowd Pop-rock acts have sold records and tickets before, but it's been a while since someone has connected with the audience the way he has, that seemed to be something for rap/grime artists only Hope he keeps it up, he could be a generational talent

Strong late Oasis/Liam Gallagher solo vibes. Liam singing this would be epic, maybe the song would be good then xD
