Keane in shock exit from Man Utd Roy Keane has left Manchester United by mutual consent. The Old Trafford club confirmed in a statement on Friday that Keane, 34, had left with immediate effect after 12-and-a-half years with United.
Earlier this month, after a 4-1 defeat to Middlesbrough which he did not play in, Keane gave an interview to MUTV where he was critical of the side.
That interview was never shown and it appears the fall-out has contributed to one of United's most dramatic exits from bbc.co.uk

Great servant for the scum.
Great player as well, looks like he'll be on his way to Parkhead.

Great servant for the scum. Great player as well, looks like he'll be on his way to Parkhead. If the recent lack of quality at Man Utd pissed him of in recent matches i can't see him being happy at Celtic, even if he always intended to play there. As a Man Utd Fan I would rather he retire now, as it would be a great shame to see his career fade out. Also he has to look at his health. The longer he plays the sooner he will need a hip replacement.

The official site reports all sweetness and light, as usual:
Manchester United has today reached agreement with Roy Keane for Roy to leave the Club with immediate effect.
The agreement allows Roy to sign a long term deal with another club.
The Club has offered Roy a testimonial in recognition of his 12 ½ years at Old Trafford.
The Club thanks Roy for his major contribution to the Club during his years of service.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson said:
“Roy Keane has been a fantastic servant for Manchester United. The best midfield player in the world of his generation, he is already one of the great figures in our Club’s illustrious history. Everyone at Old Trafford wishes him well in the rest of his career and beyond.”
Chief Executive David Gill said:
“His dedication, talent and leadership have been qualities that have marked him out as one of the true greats. On behalf of everyone at the Club, we wish him every success in his future career.”
Roy Keane said:
“It has been a great honour and privilege for me to play for Manchester United for over 12 years. During my time at the Club I have been fortunate to play alongside some of the best players in the game and in front of the best supporters in the world. At all times I have endeavoured to do my best for the management and the team.
"Whilst it is a sad day for me to leave such a great Club and Manager I believe that the time has now come for me to move on. After so many years, I will miss everyone at the Club.
"I send my best wishes for the future to the management, players, staff and supporters of the Club.”

He was a top player and did brilliantly for his team. A shame it ended like this. On the other hand, great news for the rest of the League!

looks like the great glasgow celtic keane will end up at why would the 'tic want to sign him? i think it would be a crazy signing. paying big bucks for a player who will now only play in maybe a 3rd of the games in a season. a player you dont even need.
