I get a very similar vibe from all of these songs. The intros all have similar chord sequences and the songs are generally very positive and high energy. I remember reading on this forum that Noel always wanted the lead singles to be upbeat in the mk 2 years.
All written by Noel with Liam on lead vox.
They are among the best songs the band released post-1997 imo.
The first 3 went to number 1, but TSOTL only managed to get to number 3, pushed out by Pink and Kings of Leon. Still not bad but I've often wondered if the lacklustre chart performance for the DOYS singles had any bearing on Noel's decision to wrap things up.
Which is your favourite?

I think that Lyla was the biggest hit. Go Let It Out is the best single imo. The Shock of the Lightning a close second. Probably the only MKII 'rock' song that is on the same level as the first 3 albums.

I voted for The Shock Of The Lightning as for me it's the best lead single from all of Oasis's 2000s albums. I like Go Let It Out but I've never placed it high in my favourite Oasis songs.

Gotta be GLIO.
What a song.
Always had a soft spot for The Hindu Times as well tbh.
But they're all good lead singles tbh, even though I don't really like Lyla but objectively it is.
I'd rank them:
1. GLIO 2. The Hindu Times 3. TSOTL 4. Lyla

I like all 4, however GLIO is the only one for me which almost reaches top tier Oasis.
Shock of the Lightning is an absolute tune though

Go Let It Out easily.
The Hindu Times is the sloppiest leader single. Liam sounds uncharacteristically sloppy with his vocals. The Demo version is incredible in both sound, and actual proper lyrical content.
Another one of the band’s few miss opportunities.

I really like TSOTL, but the task of a lead single is to draw attention for the album and I think Lyla has done the best job MK2-wise.
