I decided to make a playlist of Oasis b-sides from second stage of their career. Noel said they were gonna put out a B-Side album of this Era but it was scrapped. Well I’ve saved him the trouble and think I made a pretty decent playlist 1) Thank You For The Good Times 2) Full On 3) Wont Let You Down 4) Just Getting Older 5) Eyeball Tickler 6) My Generation 7) Boy With The Blues 8) (You’ve Got) The Heart Of A Star 9) Idler’s Dream 10) The Quiet Ones 11) Pass Me Down The Wine 12) One Way Road 13) Let’s All Make Believe music.apple.com/ca/playlist/thank-you-for-the-good-times-oasis-mii-b-sides/pl.u-b3b8RA9UyLmJ1W1

I would take out Won't Let You Down Just Getting Older The Quiet Ones Boy With The Blues (as that was never officially a b.side) out of that list and replace them with Carry Us All Shout It Out Loud (As Long As They've Got) Cigarettes In Hell Columbia (live)

Plus I wanted to keep those songs because it’ gives more tracks with Liam on lead vocals. Need to re listen to Shout It Out Loud

Well Noel also said this canceled project was heavy on unreleased tracks and demos. Hence Don’t Stop.

Three of the stronger b-sides and three of the stronger Noel tracks of that time, Carry Us All is better than half of SOTSOG for me.

It's simply not possible to put together a decent compilation in my opinion. There are 5 songs I'd consider that are (just about) strong enough and Noel sings 4 of them. They don't show MK2 in a particularly good light either as all of them were written by Noel and were recorded during the SOTSOG sessions (with 'Idler's Dream' being held back for later) before Gem and Andy even joined the band. I'd much rather hear an outtake compilation. Something new please.
1) Let's All Make Believe 2) (As Long as They've Got) Cigarettes In Hell 3) Full On 4) One Way Road 5) Idler's Dream

Like everyone else I don't think there's enough there. They would be better off doing a best of the 2000's and having 2 bonus disks one CD of demos and alternate takes and one CD of unreleased songs from that era.
On another note DBTT was quite successful and due to the musical landscape at the time took off quite well and Lyla and TIOBI are very well known songs. I wonder if maybe they're saving a lot of the unreleased stuff for a DBTT reissue in 2025? Noel did say (likely exaggerate) that they were working on about 50 songs during those sessions.
There isn't much unreleased stuff left from SOTSOG or HC and most of the stuff that was left over from DOYS, not including holdovers from DBTT have been released as well so 90% of any unreleased material would probably date from the long drawn out time between writing and releasing DBTT anyway so it would kinda make sense.

Yeah. Noel did a couple of interviews last spring where he mentioned the canceled project. At first he said a second b-sides album with rarities but later said it was an overall best of from the 2000s era full of unreleased songs and demos. That would have been awesome. Now ge says he’s gonna take those songs and record them himself or release on RSD.

You guys can rearrange the post 2000 B-sides all you like but they will never contain a Listen Up, Half The World Away, Acquiesce, Talk Tonight, The Masterplan or Rockin’ Chair.
There is no shame in that. Noel wrote some very good b-sides during the period. Shit many were better than albums tracks from albums that desperately needed them. They just don’t have the magic of Noel’s golden period.

Some of them aren't too great like Won't Let You Down and (Sitting Here In Silence) On My Own for example but if there was an Oasis 2000s b.sides ever released then those songs should still be on it .

He said he’s got 14 songs left over from Oasis that were never demoed properly; he’s now planning on recording those with HFB. They’re in his head, so can’t be the same unreleased tracks he was going to put on this Oasis compilation. I assume the unreleased tracks recorded with Oasis are staying in the vault until the compilation or some other suitable Oasis reissue comes out.

Well I hope that we'll get to hear all of the unreleased Oasis songs at some point but I'd sooner have them by Oasis and not just Noel on his own.

There were some absolute gems in the 00s b-sides and unreleased catalogue but overall it does feel like scraping the bottom of the barrel, particularly in light of the previous b-side compilation.

I think making a b-side album after 1997 is a difficult task. If you remove the remixes in the latter days, there's not that much strong b-sides to go with. In the 90's it was another story but to muster up 12 to 14 strong tracks for a proper compilation isn't possible I'm afraid. These are, to me, the best b-sides from Oasis MKII.
- Let's All Make Believe (duh) - One Way Road - Pass Me Down The Wine - Idler's Dream - Lord Don't Slow Me Down (not a b-side except in Japan but thrown in for good measure) - My Generation - Shout It Out Loud - Carry Us All
Those are the ones I think are good. You could maybe add Those Swollen Hands Blues. The other b-sides are... well... b-side material. And neither of the 8 songs I listed are an Acquiesce, The Masterplan, Underneath The Sky, Talk Tonight, Fade Away, Listen Up, Headshrinker or Swamp Song.
So it could have been a fun thing to have, but like anything else, an Oasis MKII b-side compilation wouldn't have been as strong or good as the Oasis MKI was.

The other huge problem with doing a b-side compilation from post 2000 is that it begins to sound like the “first” solo Noel album. He sang 90% of the b-sides it feels.

Yeah.
The Masterplan comp just made sense, cos we're talking legit brilliant songs here.
If songs like Cigarettes In Hell are making some lists for MK2 it sums it up lol.
No compilation release needs songs like that on it.
