Any predictions lads ? Checkout the Scottish love fest below GLASGOW, Scotland (Reuters) -- Scotland coach Walter Smith expects the United States to become a major world soccer force within 10 years. Addressing a news conference before Saturday's friendly against the Americans, Smith said on Friday: "They have a group of young players who look as though they could come into their team and keep on improving their team. "I think everybody has to accept they will become a force in world football at some stage within the next 10 years or so." Smith pointed out that U.S. coach Bruce Arena had several players established at European clubs, like Manchester United goalkeeper Tim Howard, Borussia Moenchengladbach keeper Kasey Keller, midfielder DaMarcus Beasley at PSV Eindhoven and Fulham striker Brian McBride. The U.S. is already seventh in the world rankings and its future looks bright too, with homegrown teenage Freddy Adu at D.C. United leading the new generation. "They have qualified for the last five World Cups in a row and with each of them they have improved. In the last one they were very unfortunate not to get to the semifinals. "You are looking at a country who are starting to produce a level of player now that could play in any country. A lot of their players are getting drawn abroad. "I think they are excellent. Even though some people would say their position in the world rankings is a bit high and it's slightly easier to get there with the type of teams they play they against, you have to admit they have handled it brilliantly. "And when you come into World Cup level they have won games there as well so I think they have been terrific."
