Was listening to some songs in the car yesterday and it got me thinking.
Do you think they will release the edited version that they released with STC / Time Flies Which sound like the first video. Or do you think they will release the audio that's like the second video? The more raw sounding one we're all used to
Do you think it's going to sound like this? (Clearly edited)
Or like this (the raw sound)

But in terms of sound quality, both those and the Maine road gigs smoke later ones such as Wembley 2000 and Manchester 2005, which both sound awful. Not performance, but the actual mixing in the post production. Whoever mixed them afterwards is stealing a living.

The visuals from COMS 2005 are just as bad as the audio. It sounds like it was recorded with a mobile phone in a van in the parking lot, but the visuals are just as bad. It annoys me that there is a new shot for almost every 2 seconds. |

sound mix is shocking why you would put a drum track in the same channel as the vocals is just stupidity

They also don't like mixing Guigs much in the mix either i have noticed in many many many recordings you can hardly hear him Probably bum notes galore 🤣 Kidding, he was ok enough with his straight root notes. To be fair, the first 3 oasis album are light on the bass side of things and Noel allegedly played most of it, so I guess it’s just a mixing choice. Also, I did work in a mastering studio and technically speaking, you can often get louder mixes and masters with more headroom if there’s less bass frequencies, especially overlapping frequencies from things like kick drum and bass guitar. So when they talk about the early oasis albums being louder than other releases at the time, a big part of achieving that is sacrificing a lot of the low end in the mixes. Then you can get a better perceived loudness with less clipping. |
