CHELSEA defender Glen Johnson has been ruled out of football for at least two months after breaking his wrist when he punched a wall in his home.
England right-back Johnson's hopes of making the squad for the World Cup finals in Germany next summer have been damaged as he recovers from the injury.
It has emerged that Johnson, 21, and a Chelsea regular until last season, hurt his wrist after losing his temper at home and will definitely miss the friendly against Argentina next month as well as a large spell of Chelsea's domestic and European campaigns.
Chelsea have refused to comment but it marks the latest chapter in an unhappy season for Johnson, who moved to Stamford Bridge from West Ham as Roman Abramovich's first signing nearly two and a half years ago. Johnson's England future was already in question after a bitterly disappointing display after coming on as a substitute in the 4-1 humiliation by the Danes in Copenhagen in August.
He was not considered for the World Cup qualifiers against Northern Ireland, Austria and Poland.
Johnson has also lost his place in the Chelsea first team, been booted out of the England Under-21s and now could even be on his way out of Stamford Bridge.
Former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri signed Johnson at the beginning of the Abramovich revolution and his arrival even before any big foreign names proved in what high regard he was held at the time.
Johnson has struggled under Jose Mourinho, because the new Chelsea boss has reservations about his defending abilities.
That is in direct contrast to the careers of England stars John Terry, Frank Lampard and Joe Cole, who have all blossomed under Mourinho.
Johnson has found himself squeezed out by Paulo Ferreira and has struggled to get into the first team.
His frustrations spilled over last month when he was sent home from England Under-21's match in Germany for having a "bad attitude".
lmao!
