Oasis are mentioned in the documentary Overshadowed about Matt Deighton.
Deighton joined oasis in 2000 following the “incident” in Barcelona where Noel left the tour.
He’s a fantastic musician and songwriter. Perhaps he was a missed opportunity for the band. Not suggesting he should have replaced Noel but I wonder what could have happened if he helped Liam and the rest of the band with their songwriting prior to heathen chemistry, like helping out in the background at wheeler end.
A very talented man

According to the documentary when Noel left the band and they were looking for a replacement it was Alan white who rang his brother Paul, asking him who was the former guitarist in paul wellers band and did he have his number.
Matt Deighton is a seriously talented musician and I believe oasis missed out by not keeping him involved during the song writing and recording processes

Noel would never allow Matt Deighton to be involved in the band when Heathen Chemistry was written. Not that I would want him to either.

Matt Deighton was only a temporal replacement, just as Jimmy Nichols was to Ringo. I truly don't see the need to speak of him as a member of the band, nor discussing what his involvement in songwriting would've been like. Don't play with history, children.

Don't see where it was said that Matt Deighton was a member of the band. The original post said he's a talented musician ... which he is. Personally, I can't imagine at all where he could ever have jibed with NG (let alone Liam) as a creative collaborator, but why is not fair game for someone to wonder what that would be like? People wonder about all kinds of fantasy collaborations with people who never even played with Oasis at all ...

Watching the documentary at the moment and it’s worth a watch. He’s a weird fit for oasis but seems a really great down to earth guy.
