This poll results are as perfect as a Standard Normal Table as you’re going to get. Not entirely sure what to make as the analysis of this though.... anyone? Seems self explanatory -- people on an Oasis forum (and therefore half pre-disposed to adore Noel and half pre-disposed to judge him harshly or skeptically) generally like it but it didn't surprise most people or take their breath away and most don't think it's up there with the absolute best stuff he's ever done which is of course an outrageously high bar.

Does anyone have any chords for this song? For me 7/10 Capo III Start with an Em (Gm) and go from there. Mainly based around Em-C-G-D There’s a Em-C-G-G/F#-C-G-D-Em-C-G bit Quite easy to play along, shouldn’t take long! There’s the C-Cm bit (331033) Second time he plays C-A instead

You're all talking about Glorious but when the first line's about to start I think I'm gonna hear "People everywhere/A sense of expectation hangin in the air"

I’m going to ask my neighbors if they liked the new Noel Gallagher song.
Because I know they heard it. #cheeky

That chorus, stuck in my head all day... Noel’s just bloody well done it again!
It has that classic Noel magic.

The plaintive way he sings “Good luck in the afterlife” melts my heart...

Feels like an end credits song for some romantic drama. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Still à 6/10 for me. The track is nothing that he hasn't done better before. Noel on autopilot between take off and landing, reading a book and sleeping in his hidden bed above the cockpit.
Next!

I changed it to an 8. It grows on me, sounds so good this track. I did the exact same thing, it’s a fast grower, after the first listen i thought it was ok but there was something, a hook maybe, that made me want to listen to it again, and again, and again... And now i love it, it’s probably my favourite NG release since WBTM

Still really digging this tune, and I'm fairly sniffy about Noel resorting to traditional tunes when I'd love to see him explore different producers et al. I realise it's fairly ho hum for many and not considered elite category Noel but you get those songs that, while unexceptional to many, come around at certain points in your life and for some reason, whether its the state of mind you are in, just seems to click at the right moment.
The melancholy in Noel's songwriting is just the best. I grew up listening to mellow bands like Travis and Coldplay, but there's always been something so much more deeply affecting with Noel's melancholy. Seems to hit harder, seems so much sadder yet weirdly uplifting. Really beautiful songwriting.

The plaintive way he sings “Good luck in the afterlife” melts my heart... That one turn of melody is bringing me back to this tune more than perhaps any song he's done since WBTM. Sticking with me more than I thought it would at first listen.

your reminder that the writer of this song is a close friend of Gordon Smart, who wrote for the S*n for 12 years
