Would love to hear Kosmos live sometime during his next tour. One of Weller's very underrated songs. mkoasis, what do you think? I think I need to listen to that first album again. I rarely listen to songs outside of their album unless it’s on a compilation I’ve made. I do like Kosmos and without a doubt would enjoy hearing it. But I can’t remember all of how it goes. I’m sure I will once I hear it again. But given how great others from that first record have sounded live like Amongst Butterflies (one of my favourites) and The Strange Museum on Other Aspects, i would more than welcome it.

About to get stuck into this now, on sunset was great, hoping he's continued his recent form.

Just purchased a ticket for his live performance (streamed live) with BBC Symphony Orchestra from Barbian Hall this Saturday. Can't wait! and the new album is out tomorrow!

Shades Of Blue may be my fave

A solid album, a lot better (imo) than On Sunset.

I'm loving this album.
True and Fat Pop are nice surprise. Already loved Shades of Blue (co-written with his daughter Leah), Glad Times and from MidSommer Musik I've already loved Testify, Failed, Still Glides The Stream and Moving Canvas. In Better Times and Still Glides The Stream are perfect songs to finish the album.
Crowboy on Disc 3 (bonus disc) - written by Weller and Skelly is a very very intersting one.
I still love On Sunset, but I'm already loving this album too. Weller can do no wrong.
Really looking forward to watching his live from Barbican tonight!

Last night's live streaming was truly brilliant. I could see Weller a bit struggeling first. No wonder as he hasn't been playing live for more than a year. 18 songs from different decades were played. Hats off to Jules Buckley who took a charge for the symphony orchestra and the fantastic back singers. Great guest performances by Boy George and Celetste. I'm not very keen on James Morrison's "Broken Stones". Set list: 01. Andromeda 02. English Rose 03. My Ever Changing Moods 04. On Sunset 05. Carnation 06. Glad Times 07. Broken Stones (with James Morrison) 08. Gravity 09. It's A Very Deep Sea 10. Bowie 11. Equanimity 12. You're The Best Thing (with Boy George) 13. Still Glide The Stream 14. Movin On 15. Wild Wood (with Celeste) 16. Rockets 17. You Do Something To Me 18. White Horses I'm watching it again as I type now! and here's a great comment by jeffslate:

Imagine having five decades worth of songs that can inspire such creative orchestrations. The strength of his writing shined. Weller really did seem just a little nervous, or maybe just humbled by the occasion. Also found it rather cute that Steve Craddock, usually such a cool cat, looked profoundly anxious in the beginning. But who wouldn't be in that hushed hall with all those serious musicians after this last year? Once it got going, it took off.

It felt like I was having a private gig in my living room. Craddock is a great musician. OCS are shamely underrated. I have to wait for 2 years for his postponed gigs, but it's worth to wait.

It's amazing how little he plays from his Jam days. Imagine PMc or Noel and Liam doing that As time has gone on, he's kinda given in a little more to audiences. Now he tends to mix in a few TSC songs, a few Jam songs (varies and I think he often does more in the US, maybe because we see him so little), and his 90s stuff with whatever new album he's touring. This was a little different, since it was an orchestral performance, and The Jam doesn't necessarily make one think of string arrangements. That said, very cool and different version of "Carnation."

I've been a huge Jam fan for decades, far far far before I got into Oasis. I remember that I had to ask my mum to lend some money to buy Setting Sons which is my all time most favourite album by The Jam. The Smiths, The Jam and Oasis are my life time bands and they always will. But I wasn't a big fan of The Style Council, even not for Weller solo first. Now I'm re-listening to TSC again thanks to Weller having their songs in his set lists.
It's amazing that he's still creating great music decades after decades. He never bores me.
We, as fans remain loyal to him and he's loyal to his fans. He always spot those who come to see him for years and have a chat.

I’ve not got my copy yet but I should once June hits. Which is fine. As excited as I am for it, I’m still getting absorbed into On Sunset!

And then he still puts on one of the most banging, non-stop, passionate rock and roll shows out there. Don't know if you saw today he did a listening party and said this might be his last album. I just can't see it, though. Think this has just been a frustrating year for all musicians and especially for Weller with two albums he hasn't been able to tour.

Every time when I meet him before the gigs, he is like "Ah here you are again, one of my regular guests". There're certain people I only and always see at his gigs even from UK through years and years. We don't even know our names, but it's like an annual meeting when we see each other at front of the venues and that's a great thing. No, I haven't watched the listening party yet. I would die if this album will be his last album, but just like you said, it must have been very very trustraiting not to being able to playing live especially someone like him. I don't think he'll stop making more albums, but then again if it's his choice, so it be. BTW, my copies of a picture disc, red vinyl and a cassette just arrived.

Delicious groove to this one. Nice little video for it too. The smilling girl opening her eyes in time with the music as the screen ratio changes and colour pours in was a stroke of genius.
Anyone else noticed the slight Eastern inflections in some of Weller's output over the last ten years? There were a couple of tunes on Sonik Kicks, like 'Drifters', which stuck out at me on last listen. Obviously 'Books' from True Meanings had Indian instruments and singing on it; and I always thought 'More' had a certain hazy Middle East quality to it, which the Mid-Sömmer Musik version really brings out. It would be interesting to hear Weller, a distinctly British artist and disciple of American soul, incorporate more "world music" influences into his own music.

There's a very sweet and fun British couple, Carl and Janet, I've seen at many of his shows in the States -- I know they follow him all around. Have you ever run into them? Here's the tweet -- he was talking about how much the music industry has changed and how much harder it is now.
