Oasis is always my number one but the kinks are a very close second. I will go through phases of just devouring their 65-73 albums and singles/b-sides. Currently in one at the present moment, I assumed a lot of people on here are also Kinks fans but was curious. Not many people here in America know anything other than You really Got Me and Lola, so they’re similar to Oasis in my eyes.

I would not call myself a superfan because I still have much to explore, but I absolutely adore the Kinks, they have a ridiculous amount of brilliant songs. I have always liked them, but a few years ago decided to dig a little deeper and finally fell in love with their music. But, still missing a few of their albums!

When people say that song is "kinksesque", its maybe my favourite vibe ever. Songs like TIOBI, Feel Good Inc., Salad Days... But I must say that I didn't listen to anything else apart from greatest hits and Village Green.

there's a demo meant for an Elvis movie(!) that appeared online a month ago (as if For One So Young was played out of nowhere in 2044 on some internet radio)
their first TEN records and BBC sessions are up there with the Beatles

Any recommendations for a good place to start with The Kinks? I've enjoyed the odd song here and there but never really listened to their albums.

My particular top 10 LPs of theirs would be- Village Green Preservation Society Muswell Hillbillies Preservation Act 1 Arthur- Or The Decline And Fall Of The British Empire Everybody's In Showbiz Preservation Act 2 Arthur- Or The Decline And Fall Of The British Empire Lola Vs The Powerman And The Money-Go-Round, Part One Soap Opera Schoolboys In Disgrace Before "Village Green" I find their records to be very spotty and a bit tossed off.

Preservation act 1 is underrated IMO I’m happy I’m not the only one. Act 2, not so much...

It took a long while to realise that the little bugle blast at the start of the "Announcement" is the "And we'll buy up the town and we'll knock it all down..." melody from "Demolition" from "Act 1"
