So, I got into the habit of combining albums during lockdown and I made one called Dig Out Your Truth, a combination of the final two Oasis albums.
I have to say, I can't stop listening to it. I feel like it runs perfectly and if it was released as their final album, it would still be being talked about. The running order goes like this:
Bag It Up The Turning Lyla Waiting For the Rapture Shock of the Lightning Guess God Thinks I'm Abel The Importance of Being Idle I'm Outta Time Falling Down Let There Be Love
I think it sticks to the pseudo-religious themes of Dig Out Your Soul and also flows really well.
I also made 'Standing On the Shoulder of Heathen chemists' if you'd like to see?

But I looked at this as if it was an album with a 'theme' and Bag It up suits the mood of the album. TUTS could have gone first with everything else shifted one place down?

1. Bag It Up 2. Mucky Fingers 3. The Turning 4. Lyla 5. The Importance of Being Idle 6. Waiting for the Rapture* 7. The Shock of the Lightning 8. I'm Outta Time 9. Part of the Queue 10. To Be Where There's Life 11. Falling Down 12. Let There Be Love
Couldn't quite squeeze 'Turn Up the Sun' in.
*It'd be interesting if to hear if could do the first verse and chorus as the alternative version then for the album version to kick in after that point. That may help transition the acoustic Kinks-y 'TIOBI' with the rockin' 'TSOTL'.

I love both songs Bag It Up and Turn Up The Sun and they're both great album openers in my opinion for their final two albums.

I don't think DBTT and DOYS work so well with each other, tbh. Nothing against either album, they're just two totally different vibes. One's a stripped-back, feel-good, highly-British album and one is a more-full band, apocalyptic, reflective album. Both good, but they don't mesh as well.
I'll cheat on this one and say I'd take Muffins out of DOYS and slot Boy With the Blues (written during DBTT) in at the end, then put Come on Outside in for High Horse Lady.

I started trying to do mine and it just wasn't really working.

I started trying to do mine and it just wasn't really working. I think that's a good mark on both albums. They both work well enough on their own to where they don't need to be combined in any way. Also, it shows how they should've taken more time with the middle three albums to fine tune the production and songwriting of each album. Even though DBTT and DOYS may seem rushed in some ways and a little flawed, they're really well-fleshed out albums. With that said, I think Turn Up the Sun would've been kinda interesting to put as a prologue to Bag it Up. It has a dream-like atmosphere that sets the tone that you're about to dive into something a little off the beaten path.
